Is it true that the credit card company will give you your money back if the site is a scam and takes the money out but doesn't send you the goods?

What sort of protection is there?

It's depends on your particular credit card but most do offer protection to you for fradulent transactions. You'll have to call up the customer services line for your credit card provider and explain to them. They will send you out a form to fill in with the details which you send off. After a while, depending on the amount and how much they decide to investigate, you'll have the money back in your account.

Some may give you the money straight away, I'm not too sure but in my case with a First Direct Visa, I had to fill forms in and whatnot.

exco, as my dad just phoned me up asking me about whether a site is secure and if he can pay through PayPal the thing I mentioned to him once.

If the site you're looking at buying from does look dodgy though it might be safer to order from elsewhere. Don't 100% rely on the credit card company refunding you if it goes **** up.

Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
