I was wondering if somone could answer this, we moving next Thursday and rather than get promised things on the phone only for them to tell lies basically, i would like to get tv/broadband/phone in as soon as possible, i was thinking of maybe trying to pre-order or something for the day after we move in can you do that, and do they charge a month in advance on things, appreciate any responce on this.

They have adsl through a bt line, the house has vm box installed but it hasn't been used for 7 years since they been in as they wanted to stay with bt, i just want as little down time as possible and i been told that vm chaps don't always turn up as expected.

I wanted to do the same thing but because the telephone number would be changing in the house (we took our old one with us) I couldn't cheat and order early. Do you know the phone number in your new house?

In the end I had about 2 weeks downtime but luckily a neighbour had an open wireless router which I used, although it meant I had to put a laptop in the loft to access it via that.

If that hadn't worked I was going to ask the people next door if they had broadband and would they mind if I used it for a week or two over wireless (for a small fee).

Well the cable box outside the house aint been used for about 7 years as i posted above, so we would be using that and not going via the bt line, what does it involve for virgin media to reconnect that or whatever they do, enable broadband/phone/ tv etc.

If you're a new customer call 0845 840 7777. If you're an exisitng customer phone them on 0845 454 1111 to arrange to move your services, they can pre book it as long as the people in the property already either made arrangements to disconnect the service they have or don't have cable. Do it sooner rather than later as you're potentially going to be without for a few days if you don't get a move on depending on the area.

Yes they bill a month and a month in advance so basically your first months service is the big one as you're paying for the month you're using and the month ahead, after that it's just the normal monthly fee, when you disconnect you end up giving them 30 days notice so the idea is you don't have to pay for anything on your last bill apart from call charges etc.

Ok nice reply so ill phone up today will be a new customer, the people in the house are using tiscali adsl, bt for phone and sky for tv so they have no cable activated in the house but it has the box on the house.

Wow thats one big bill to start with, do they bill that when they have installed the items ? or do you pay that even before they come out.

I phoned them up and they offered us this deal and will install it Tuesday 4th December,

20mb broadband
XL phone
XL HD tv & another box in another room

for £65 a month which i thought was a pretty decent deal, what do you lot think.
