***Ori and the Blind Forest***

Purchased just now but I forget about the download time!.

This just time vampired a couple of hours from me.

Played for an hour this morning and was hooked. I like the save system... and everything else.

They didn't show a lot of gameplay footage before release (or at least I didn't really see any), so this game has been an unexpected but pleasant surprise for me. Very fairly priced at £15 too.

Theirs no real loading time, you just keep going, only a pause no and then for a story part, but the Blind Forest is a nice place to be, and that soundtrack.

6 hours in and whilst I love most of the game, especially the style, there are some sections that are pretty frustrating to play. Specifically the escape sequences that are actually just memory exercises compounded by slowdown which means death is often not your fault.

A bit of a shame they added those bits as the rest of the game is pretty tricky but feels fair whereas these parts are almost like QTEs.

Whatever else you do I strongly recommend exploring to the max before you go to the highlighted points as that way you can grab the blue and green upgrades which are a massive help.

The look of the game is great and it plays kind of like Dust: An Elysian Tail crossed with Guacamelee (this is a good thing). It is pretty hard in parts so don't let the styling put you off.

The first one of those took me about 90 minutes to do properly as I was aiming for 100%. I got 98% and now I can't return there :( The annoying thing is that about halfway through, I decided against getting all the items along the way, but because I was so conditioned to go for them, I kept screwing up and decided to get them anyway.

For me, this game has gripped me fully, first time in a long time I've looked forward to collecting all the items and getting 100% without looking at any form of map/guide.

Finished in just over 7 hours and other than those irritating escape sequences I really enjoyed it.

One tip for completionists - once you enter the last "temple" you cannot ever explore the rest of the world (your save file is locked when you finish the game).

Took me a shade under 10 hours, but that was because I was trying to get everything, until I realised that I'd missed a couple of things you can't go back to, so just sped through the end. Quite looking forward to going back in and collecting everything, though going back to no abilities will be really weird.

Havant had a chance to play on this but the chasing difficulty spokes is worrying me, I'm not most skilled at platormer games.

It is a tough game at times and if you're only average at platformers then I'd try Dust: An Elysian Tail first as it's similar but quite a bit easier.

I'd say there are sections in Guacamelee that are tougher than Ori but they are generally secret areas whereas there are sections in Ori that will really frustrate you if you aren't pretty handy at platformers and none of them are skippable so you may hit a wall (or your controller might).

Maybe watch a stream or two and see what you think, this is live right now and she's on some of the later sections which give an idea of what it gets like later - http://www.twitch.tv/misskyliee

It is a great game though and the style does allay quite a lot of the frustration :)

Sorry mis typed, meant to say play again, went though about the first 3 hours or so, but haven't done any of the "chase" parts.

Lol, brings no comfort, did die a right few times, but the music and scenery makes it such a nice place to be.
