Hello folks (wasn't sure where to put this but since its game related I put it into PC Games).

I have been coming back to my PC the past few days to see that my Origin account "is in use" at another computer.

Now I have done all the usual security changes, secret question changes etc etc. Nothing else is compromised on my system, so I just wonder whats going on exactly.

Quick google revealed others have had similar problems in the past, but nothing of late.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I want to contact their support but their support system is a bit complex to try and raise a bleeding ticket!

I had this. Some guy in Russia had gained access to my account and thousands of others. I ended up sorting it via the support team on Twitter. They were excellent. They will help you get details changed and be able to see if anyone is accessing your account illegally.

Chatting to them but so far offering me nothing new than what I already know (change your security question bla bla bla).
They cannot see if anyone accessed my account illegally according to what theyre saying.
BS?

EDIT: Well that was a waste of 10 mins. No joy there with their help.
They wouldn't even check to see if my account was compromised. Does this sound right?

Of course it's BS, they'll have full access to the logs showing what IP accessed it and when, from that IP they can (unless it's a spoofed IP) tell where geographically the person was and if it was you.

However you've probably no right to know those details, so it's easier to tell you they can't get it, or supply you with it.

Bottom line is they don't have to, they should just get you to change your settings and get you back into your account. Strongly suggest you start looking at keepass or Lastpass if you don't already to ensure you have very tough passwords for each individual account etc.

Were you messaging @AskEASupport

I provided them with a few details about me/my account and they were great. Although it's right for them to show caution, hope you can get it back :(

No it was just a chat session not Twitter.

I have my account already. Its not gone, which is bizzare. Its just the message which says my account is in use elsewhere.

I had this a couple weeks ago, and for some reason my friends list was wiped clean aswell  changed my password on origin and email account just incase.

Best thing to do then would be to change all security questions and password, but I'm guessing you've done that :)

Had this a couple of times over the last week or so. Only seems to happen after I leave my machine for a while.

I don't think my security is compromised, I just think its origin. Could also just be my internet reconnecting (giving me a different IP address).

I also had this and thought this.... ^^

I have had it but I think it is because my daughter is playing Simpsons Tapped Out on her android tab which also uses my Origin account. Just in case any of you are using it on multiple devices.

Cheers folks. Ive done all the security precautions, will watch it over the next few days.

Did you set-up two-step authentication?

Launch Origin > Origin menu > Account & Privacy > Security > Login Verification > Turn On > Enter security answer > SMS

This option really needs to be on by default!

When is the law going to change to stop protecting criminals? Companies like EA should be obliged to give you full details on a possible hackers IP + exact location.

I did the email option. Is that as good as? Or is SMS better?

Didn't even know this option existed, I've enabled it and used SMS. Thanks!

I've had this a few times where for some reason Origin doesn't seem to realise I've logged out. So when I log back in it thinks I'm still online. Well done EA
