Origin Account Security

I don't even get chance to do this. They gain access around 30 seconds after the change.

Then EA would seem to be you only hope, they will be able to see linked accounts and hopefully remove anything not belonging to you. Although I wonder why they wouldn't already have thought or looked at this if this is the case.

Perhaps login to Origin whilst you have them on the phone/chat and verify everything, and then change the password they give you as well?

I'm not sure your account is actually being hacked, I think there may be a bug in their servers linked to your account that is causing it to fail, I have a couple of thoughts as to why:

It's happening so quickly after you keep changing, it isn't likely that there's a script kiddy constantly sat at the other end of the connection changing the settings back as soon as you've changed them.

You say it happens about 30 seconds after you've changed your settings, if that's too quick for you to change any details or do much else it's also too quick for someone to manually change your details I would have thought.

Finally, have you tried implementing the new two step verification system with an SMS code for changing any important details? It's under Origin > Accounts and privacy > security

I have no way of knowing if that's correct or not but if you are contacting support and saying "OMG I'M CONSTANTLY BEING HACKED!!!11!!ELEVENTY!!!!", you do have the right to be angry but you could be sending them down the wrong road.

Explain the problem, don't suggest a reason why, let them figure out the solution.

Haha I'm not sure if you have used EA's online chat before most of them couldn't solve the problem of putting their underwear on the wrong way round in the morning. Some are good to be fair especially the ones over the phone.

Sorta stuck now and the only real way I'm going to get this sorted is another long expensive phone call to EA support

Yeah I did but I'm not sure if it was related to my hotmail which I think got hacked

Luckily recovered hotmail and managed to change my origin password, no problems since

Thankfully I haven't had to use them yet but if it's any consolation, I do like your analogy! :D

I've read on here that they respond well on a Twitter channel...don't know what the name of it is though, it was mentioned on here the other day.

Finally got through to a specialist. It is a hack that can only be fixed with an update which is due to come out on Wednesday. Absolutely ridiculous to be fair and according to the guy on the phone there have been a number of people calling that have been affected.

Interesting. Is this a flaw in the password recovery for the Origin client, did he give any details?

No he was very hush hush about it. From what I understand they are simply able to reverse any changes that anyone makes on the account almost instantly whether it is me or someone at EA.

Extremely long and random password generated by your favourite password manager + Origin SMS authentication FTW. I'll pay attention when someone defeats this. :)
