**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Eh the release date is tomorrow so surely it will only be "guaranteed" to be delivered by tomorrow!? I think its parcelforce and you should have been email a tracking number to check up on it too. I have my tracking info anyway.

This, "guaranteed release day delivery" means you get it, on release day, some shops do send it out earlier but the majority don't, especially as the release is a Tuesday if it was dispatched like mine was on Sunday, you should get it tomorrow.

i work.. i'll just get it on my lunch break, like all new games... then when works over... playtime! :D
the only way i can see pre-orders benefitting anybody is if they get delivered early, or if you can play games at work ^^

lol my mrs watched the trailer lastnight and thought it was some epic love story and couldnt wait for me to get it so she could watch.

She was rather let down when i explained it was an RTS game :D

Lol, mine saw the TV adertisement last night.
Her: "isn't that the daft game your always on about?"
Me: "sigh.. yes"
Her: "Looks awesome!"
Me: "...oh?..."

^^ time to get her hooked! lol

Thought this the best place to ask..

I quite like the base building in Supreme Commander, is there anything similar in SC2, ive never played the original..

SC2 does have base building. Its more about map control, management of resources, when to expand and when to attack. But of course if you have a fantastic base defence then it all helps. I attacked a protoss base that was lined with cannons and had defence units and was wasted almost instantly.

Personally I will probably not even bother with the single player side of the game and will just be buying it for multiplayer. I enjoy playing real people too much and playing against a computer player just seems boring now.

What's the experience going to be like for completely new players? I'm quite intrigued by this but haven't played any of the Beta or know anything really about the game. I was going to wait for some reviews, but want to know that by waiting I'm not going to spend the majority of my time on the receiving end of noob-stomps. What's the community like?

I've been playing a lot of HoN, so my community awareness is really high!

In my ignorance i completely forgot to pre-order, what do people think my chances are of being able to pick up a copy at HMV/Game tomorrow?

I worked all last week to cover sick people and have been given the next three days off as thanks! Perfect timing.
Didn't play beta but i'm going to sit and play this solid as of midnight, lol.

But then most people playing on BN will be 10yr old SC veterans that already by the time open beta started had 10 milion tactics worked out with perfect knowledge of everything in the game.

So unless you're super good RTS player, you'll most likely get anihilated in every game within the first 10minutes, which is why I'd love a good campaign - somewhere when I can just start the game and relax because I don't have whole day to study tactics anymore.

Maybe if they make some sort of match making system that would help less hardcore players I guess.

play.com have royally let me down on this and have clearly over-sold their stock amount... my order has been 'packing' for 4 days now and still awaits the 3-5 day delivery time. ****ed off  first time i have purchased a game from a non-digital source in years... now im reminded just why services like steam are far superior. i'll be buying this from blizzard's online digital-download service at midnight tonight and downloading it like i did with my warcraft client, then promptly returning their lousy-serviced product as soon as it comes through my letterbox!
