**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

started it at 6pm yesterday , just finished the single player on normal . left feeling is that it when it ended , although i did enjoy it . time to restart on hard :)

Hard is proving pretty easy tbh. Although I think the levels are pretty replayable, so try Hard and maybe switch down to Normal if it gets too much.

i guess im just terrible at the game because i have been having a hard time on normal with some of the missions
currently stuck on the one where you have to gather minerals before the other guy
and also the one where you have to collect some items before the enemy can seal 7 of them off

Is there a downloadable manual anywhere? I purchased this on digital download (I said to myself I wasnt going to buy this game and now have got suckered in!)

Whilst Im downloading the 7GB exe I thought id have a read of the manual, but I cant see a link.

I just signed up on battle.net to see how much the digital download is.. £44.99? They are having a laugh.

:(, is that the only place it's available from.

why have they not let steam sale it. I no longer like disks. I never put them back in the box and they always end up scratched or broken. Then all the manual updates.

I believe it is the only place where it is available for digital download. £44.99 for a digital download is just taking the ****.

It being a digital download should warrant a cut in price compared to the retail release.. not an increase!

I totally agree they should let steam sell it - but from what I have read that is very unlikely to happen :(

Anybody got theres that ordered from gamestop? was there a import tax you had to pay, just come home to find a card though door wanting £18!

Sounds about right for goods of that value/size, happened to me last year with some US only DVDs I ordered. Not unexpected but a bit annoying that those import tax plus the shipping I had to pay pretty meant I was pretty much paying double. Though it was quite funny popping into my local dinky post office and having them cover the payment card in sub £1 stamps :D

Been watching a few videos for this in the last few days and having not played a proper base building RTS in a few years (WC3 and Tiberian Sun were the last), I actually think I may pick this up. In no rush though, so will wait for it to drop in price in the shops.

Just picked this up for £35.

Installed but trying to download the first patch and at 72% I get this.

Blizzard Updater was unable to read the file "Versions\Base15405\SC2.exe". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at <unknown>--for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the update. (The error code was 0.) : DecompressJob::Execute()

It won't happen with Blizzard, which is a shame. I would have liked it on Steam.

Am i right in saying however once you have a retail copy of sc2 and you attach it to battlenet you can download it from the site as many times as you like, so long as there is only 1 person logged into battlenet at a time.

Much easier to just buy a retail copy for £35 then register the key, download the client and download the content. Problems with media disks are so annoying, thats why I dont even have a dvd drive now

Yep, nothing to stop you giving your details to someone else (email and password) for bnet login, then them downloading the client and content.

They then should be able to login with your account and play the game, only problem will be that you will probably not be able to login at the same time
