**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

rather than make a seperate thread i thought i would post this question in here: in the starcraft II editor i am currently making a large new map, enabling all campaign mode units, etc. does anyone know if it is actually possible to enable the 'shrike turret' research in any way shape or form. i have tried everything i can think of, got everything buildable from perdition turrets, auto-turrets (with no time-out) buildable from SCV, psi-disruptor, etc. but the research part is proving a mini-nightmare. originally i wanted to use a converted 'Nova Missile Silo' as an 'advanced research institute' for the terrans, where all of the story-mode technology (juggernaut plating, etc) will be researchable for a price/time. before i try to make my new building i tried it with engineering bay but i cannot get it to work properly. anyone had any luck with this sort of thing?

Edit: and planning to add all the protoss/zerg campaign units as well, like the dragoon, scout, lurker, etc. so don't worry, this is all purely experimental for the time being :)
 
Hmm never played starcraft before this was released and I got into the gold league. I've managed to get my arse handed to me on a plate a few times but I have also won my own fair share so it's 50/50.

Been schooled by the protoss 2gate tactic and the terran banshee rushes but once you have, i've learnt (nearly) how to counter them :).
 
Still playing crap myself, but I seem to be catching players out in the bronze league by going stargate and getting at least 3 void rays out. Won about 5 matches this way so far!
 
Gah - looks like blizzard have been messing around with achievements. I've lost a few.

I had the silver on lonely viking, which has now gone. Also the "hard 20" achievement is now gone. Well, it's showing hard 20 as complete, but the progress bar is only at 2/25. So I won't be able to get the full 25.

A few others are gone as well, looks like any that were partially complete have been reset (amory purchases etc). Annoying.

Anyway, if anyone is trying to complete the achievements for the campaign - check your accounts. You might be missing a few.

Yes but if you go fast reapers and attack the probes the protoss player will not have enough economy to go voids. Reaper rush is so annoying and to my knowledge the only way to stop it is by going stalkers. Even then the terran player will have had enough time to kill at least 5 probes by the time the stalker is out

Anyone know any other counters to reaper rush?

for Terran, Just get a marauder out or a couple of marines for the time ebing while you tech.

Protoss, Should always be aiming for a fast stalker regardless, its much of the same build from SC:BW where you get a Goon out ASAP to harass or counter vultures, or furthermore gundam rush..
You can easily get a zealot out by the time a reaper gets there, just chase him with that and delay him from attacking probes. he'll spend so much time microing he'll eeither slip up and lose it, his macro will be down the drain or your stalker comes out as he kills your zealot, and loses anyway. .. or all fo them ^^

for Zerg, just use your queen and lings to block of cliff passages. spread creap early so you get the movement speed increase for long distance with lings.

no stalkers are the way to go..although its tight getting them out before terran attacks especially if there good.

did my 3v3 placements yesterday..and got in platinum woop, so im bronze 1v1, silver 4v4 and platinum 3v3 now - so all over the shop lol. i think i work best in 3v3 though.

You'll find that the more 1v1's you play, the more it will improve your game in 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 at the same time :)
 
Yea totally agree on the importance of 1v1 for improving your game. With the 'random' team games the way that they are at the moment I'm keeping away from them anyway.

Deffinatly, im having difficulty staying away as most of my friends don't want to 1v1 me and only wanna play team games. pretty frustrating. might just have to start ignoring them soon because ive started to get rubbish ^^

im scared of 1v1's haha.


no need to be, worst thing you can do is win :p because you tend to learn the least from that
