**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

had a game on scrap station today where he sent his command centre to my base with all his SCV's??? i lifted off to go to the island at the top and he followed me, i went to the gold and he followed me..

is this an awesome new tactic where you just follow the enemy??

don't get it..

lol

lol :p Today I had someone land 2 command centres in my base then turn them into orbital commands... He lost :p

I just started playing 3v3s and am in placement matches... won the first 2 easily, then lost one but before it was reported as lost (my team mates were still playing), i joined another game... Turns out I was playing with all platinum players :-/ I am bronze league... I got rushed and barely saved then my team won :p Maybe my final placement match will be in the diamond league :p

I did something similar with the 4v4 league placement matches. The other three leagues are either bronze or silver but I must have latched on to some good players when I got here as it dumped me near the top of Diamond

Yeah... Just won a 4v4 against a load of noobs convincingly and because I did most of the killing and eco, my 2nd placement match I got demolished... Just looked at some of the other players I was with and they are all diamond and some master league... This placement stuff is ridiculous...

lol - finally made number 1 in my bronze league - yes a pathetic achievement for most on here but i'm happy after starting with about a 10 wins and 60 loses in my first 70 games!!

Onwards and upwards i guess!!

not won a game yet. tho last time i played was b4 xmas. gonna have another bash.

any tips. i understand the macro philosophy fine but i just find i cannot produce units fast enough and my push timing is all wrong.

Might be worth posting replays of a couple games. Plenty of people on here happy to help identify any big weaknesses in your play :)

I'm sure someone will post that macro day9 daily, but all it's saying is 'keep building workers, keep adding supply, and always build units when you can'. Most weaknesses in play tend to stem from one of those.

If you're losing your entire army during pushes, then try to develop a sense of when it is 'good' or 'not good' to push. There's nothing wrong with moving forward and then deciding to retreat and not engage based on your opponents army/positioning.

Protos Void Ray rush Is now my favourite. Get them first by the cheap cannons outside their base.

In this game, running away is when you are losing a battle is very often the best option as most units can't shoot while moving (like when chasing your units), so will only get a few shots off before your units are forever out of range. Another thing is in those times when you are controlling units attacking, if possible, try to keep making units and doing some kind of macro... Otherwise you may find that you've managed to kill a few more of his workers, but have no army ready for his counter attack.

Also, your base is only taking in the maximum resources possible when you have 24 drones on the minerals and 6 on the vespene gas, so aim for this when you are able to build up your worker count.

And don't shy away from being aggressive early in the game... If his units are busy defending, they aren't attacking, so don't be too scared of leaving your base open. Even if your attack fails and you lose your whole force, you should hopefully have enough to defend, and at low level, just putting the opponent on the defensive often stops them attacking anyway

As said, post a replay for more specific advice

"The system will be shutting down in 45 minutes"

Had that message just as I was starting a match. Since most of my matches are about 20-30 minutes, I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Oh, how wrong I was.

Came right down to the wire and just as I had a group of mutas/corruptors and roaches/lings to wipe out the guy's last base...

"You have been dropped!"

FFFFFUUUUU- ensued
