I always play 2 vs 2. How do you defend again a double zergling rush? I play zerg and manage to just about hold off the 1st wave when I 6 pool but then another load will come in and kill all my drones

depends what they are rushing, normally you can get away with doing a 10 or 12 pool, saving your lava and spawning yoruself 6 zerglings ASAP.
along with 2 spine crawlers, get one in your mineral line. so if they go for it you can surround it with drones and help defend it.

Either way with half assed micro you can own 12-16 zerglings with 6 of yours, spine crawler and your drones.. if he starts targetting your drones, jsut keep running them to either side of the mineral line.

Got some replays of defending against rushes as zerg if you want them.

One of the curses of being zerg in 2v2 against a 2v2 zerg team.

Your role in the team is effectively bait. 6 pooling is no way to go, as you are putting yourself in the worst economic position possible. 7pool is actually a better way to go, and costs you (almost) nothing in time. I would suggest experimenting with everything from 7 pool to 12 pool (extractor trick).

Having your lings block the choke and hold position will buy you some time, as the enemy numbers advantage counts for less (i.e. they have to fight 1 ling vs 1 ling and not get any surrounds), and allow you to re-inforce quicker (you don't have to cross the map to get to the fight)

You have to be able to constantly produce lings, spine crawlers, queens, drones and buildings (roach warren is a good idea) whilst minimising the time the enemy spends in your base harassing your drones. Your team mate should be looking to aggressively counter at one of the enemy bases and take out all of their drone production. I think as things go currently Zerg players will not be afforded much in the way of respite or opportunity to attack in 2v2 games (unless they make an aggressive push themselves)

Surely in a 1 vs 1 on a small map, if a zerg player times a 6 pool correctly against any other race they could win easily. 3 zergling (so 6) with overlord. Send 6 in to kill supply then workers, then build another 6 and send those in to help finish off

Steps of war is the smallest map, and with decent scouting Toss can wall off before the lings spawn. And Terran can wall off faster than Toss so, really the only race susceptible to this sort of cheese is Zerg. So on Steps I tend to 10 pool to counter any potential cheese.

What about twilight fortress, you cant really wall off but the map is quite big.

I wonder size the 4 vs 4 maps will be. 8 players should be insane, could be over very quickly if zerg rushes team up or take forever if everyone sits back and techs up

Its not a problem if they spawn on the other side of the map... Infact if they 6 pool you from across the map you will almost certainly win as you will have a much larger economy and be able to out produce them very quickly.

If they spawn in the base right next to you well thats another matter all together (stupid map actually allows opposing teams to share adjoining bases)

Never had that. Would be interesting :)

I had that against chaotic, I was terran so started blocking off the main (making a long ass wall) and in he pops with a probe... next thing I know a tonne of zealots turn up and started to tear what base I had apart. I was like WTF how did all these get here so fast.

I managed to send out another SCV to a random expo in the middle of the map to build a new command center and lifted off my command center (I lost all other buildings) I had my floating command center flying literally all over the map to all the other expos except the one I was at just to keep his units occupied whilst I rebuilt. I managed to rebuild and further expand and eventually take the game. But in fairness I certainly did not deserve to win it and had Chaotic found my new base early or been more aggressive I probably wouldn't have won.
I'd have probably GG'd had I not played Chaotic a few times before and known that he was quite a passive player (at the time) and tended to turtle heavily.

I pre ordered SC2 from GAME about 2 days ago, although the website states a BETA key will be sent out the next day!

I think GAME are taking the ****! DON'T quote some thing you can't stick to

Just ring them and they can send you it straight away - I waited a week and they claimed they had already sent it.
