Dunno really, Hard is way too easy imo; brutal is a nice difficulty, you scrape through missions by the skin of your teeth. But as mart981 says you won't really be getting any achievements done so if you want them you will be playing it through twice either way.

50 practice matches are exactly that, play 50 games with other people in practice to gear you up for rated play.

Takes some getting used to but I just had an awesome match, defeated 2 players (beginners ofc) with 6 Thors and 4 Battlecruisers as well as a handfull of other troops (and a tactial nuke).

I do love brute force .

I retire from online starcraft after a 1 win 1 lose record.

I'm just not good enough.

Will play the SP as its pretty damn good for an RTS.

Don't give up. If you're new to Starcraft then be very happy with a possitive win to loss ratio, it's a good thing to aim for. You are going to lose. A lot. The faster you get over losing and take it as a learning experience the quicker you're going to become a better player.

Also, watch pro player replays and VODs. Check the teamliquid tourney section for tourneys that you can watch. Not only is it very fun to watch top players, but it's also very helpful because it gives you some idea on what to do.

Just finished my placement matches, ranked in at silver which is better than I expected.

Been very competitive at FPS games but absolutely terrible at anything bar TD on starcraft, so will be interesting to see if i can make a go of things on an RTS level.

Annoying that disconnects like that count as a loss. Are you also ranked as diamond, or was it just a bad matchmake?

It's placements - you get matched against anyone. When you're placed in a league you only get placed against people of similar skill. To place you properly they have to put you against good and bad people.

I hope it's not the bug from phase one that is causing the timeouts/disconnects, the UDP thing. That was so annoying.

To be honest even the Standard edition is nice. It has the typical Blizzard fold out cardboard outer case

When was it send out? I think you usually have to wait about 10 days before it can be declared lost. May just be taking a while to get to you. Frustrating either way.

While I wait, what difficulty should I play on? Seems the general consensus is Hard, but I never played the original and got stuck at the end of normal mode of CNC 3, should I go for normal?
