**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I got lucky last night playing a couple of slackers. One I medivaced a ghost into their base and nuked it, the second I factory dropped and churned out hellions.

There's something about that ragequit that just makes you smile :p.

True, but I'm rubbish with Terran, usually if there is Mass Voids it's because I never noticed it.

By then you don't usually have enough vikings to counter, and if there's 6+ voids they rip through almost everything. Specially when fully charged.

One viking can take out n* voidrays, the only constraint is time.

Two vikings will tear a typical voidray rush apart. If you scout them with early double gas and a cybercore, rush a starport pop it on a reactor from your barracks, and get 2 vikings asap.

You need to micro. Vikings have range 9, voidrays range 6 so it's not even a fair fight. You just need to attack, and retreat while your attack cooldown is ticking away. Hit 'h' (halt) launch another volley and retreat. Rinse, repeat and you'll knock em down. If the void rays try to run away chase them until you're back in range.

From here really, you've got the game won (he's behind economically and likely hasn't been macroing while attacking you with his void rays). Get an expansion up, add 'raxes and when you have a few tanks push out and win.
 
Dropping on an existing reactor is an awesome tip, never even occurred.

Another problem is I don't really know what the Protoss buildings are/do, now I do so hopefully I can know where they're teching!

You really need to play some games as Protoss. Maybe try going for the comp stomp/coopo achievements on easy or medium with 'toss to get a feel for their structures and unit composition.

Best advice ever imo.
In the BETA i couldn't for the life of me beat Terrans MMM pushes. Played a bunch of 1v1's as Terran, id say about 10-20 games in total in Phase 2. Learnt that Infestors totally rip it to bits with a combo of hydra/roach.

Having problems with certain match ups, or in general want to improve one race, best way is to play as the other race and see what beats them, find out whats the most annoying type of harassment etc. :)
 
Be aware that there is a reveal map hack out there that apparently isn't detectable at the moment. Not sure if it shows up in the replay or not. I swear the last guy I played knew EXACTLY where I and everything I had was though. He very very carefully maneuvered around my base in the replay. Maybe just got lucky though.

sometimes people do get lucky, but there was a maphack out i nthe beta (got banned) but the slackers are always trying to figure out new ways of winning.. or not winning as the case may be!

EDIT: IT got banned.. not me! just for clarification!

Theres not many tbh, i wanted one of Kerrigan pre-infestation, like from the cut scene. but couldn't find one decent/large enough.

So i settled with the old Starcraft Ghost wallpaper with Nova :)

Yep I know, I only got it Saturday :p. I've completed the campaign and am now dipping my toes in the murky waters of multiplayer.

Hehe! loved the campaign, thinking about going through it again and picking up the acheives i missed out when i went through it first time... I've never done that with any game! eepeeeen! ^^ hehe

There was one guy I played on the ladder, he was Protoss. He never scouted me, but he just rallyed his Protoss outside my base right from the start and then just pushed in. I was curious how he knew where I was (4 player map on a 1v1), maybe he just got lucky, but it looked really dodgy on the replay, I'll see if I can find it.

Nah its random, unless of course theres only 2 spawning spots!
