**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Well I've lost 3 out of 3 in my initial 5 games now, I'm amazed at how fast everyone else builds up!

I've tried the MMM route but the marines seem to fall very quick, it would appear the trade off is less of the higher tech units in favour of marines and marauders.

Looking at the graphs I seem to lead the first half but my build is letting me down later on.

I guess if I lose all 5 at least I'll be in a lower league/ladder.

The lower league is where you want to be. You're still learning the game so you want to play against others in the lower leagues.

On an unrelated note, I've just come out of a 7 game losing streak. :p

If you're going MMM be sure to get stim pack and combat shield. I usually build two engineering bays to get the upgrades up ASAP too :)

depending on who your going up against, an MM build should be a minimum of 3 barracks from your main base. Once you have your expansion, you should lay down another 3... work on that sorta ratio and you should be fine. Obviously encourporate your upgrades and Starport tech into that aswell :)

best thing to do is lose your initial games. You can work your way up then! Theres not much to aim for when your in the top half of Diamond.. other than getting 1st place ^^

Also... Anybody going to be taking part in Fridays CraftCup ??

link is below if anybody fancy's a go.. Standard ranges from average to awesome :) I recommend it to anybody though, Its nice to get some tournament experience!

Nah it's for anyone. Level of play is pretty variable.

I'm gonna be in :) Shame we can't ocuk ourselves up :(

Anyone tried out the new 1v1 ladder maps? They don't seem to great for zerg, combination of terran siege'ing the map/natural and difficult 3rd :(

Waaaaait new ladder maps? Which ones?

edit: ooo they've removed Kulas and Desert Oasis and added Shakuras Plateau and Jungle Basin. Shakuras looks bad, there's a backdoor in your main. :(

Shakuras looks awful, basically you can spit at the other team's base in vertical positions.

Jungle Basin looks promising though, certainly can't be worse than Kulas.

I've been playing an increasingly number of Zerg players lately and just wanted to share a little strategy that is ravaging pretty much every zerg I play (even beat Indie with it!).

Basically it's a fake FE (i.e. pylon on cliff, gate, forge and cannon at natural forming a choke), into a slightly delayed 4 gate. If they scout you don't have an expo, then you instead complete the expo, and push out with 6 gates. Nydus play is not so problematic because you have the 4 gates up so quick and with the 6 gate variant you can churn out enough stalkers quickly to completely shut down your typical 8-12 muta harass and still make an attack on their (pretty undefended) natural.

The timings are such that if the zerg drones even slightly too aggressively, you can completely walk over their natural.

The only problem I've had with it, is a 5 roach rush which I still managed to hold with a couple cannons and a couple zealots to hold the ramp/score free hits on the roaches.

Can you post any replays of that pvz strat?

I've been watching the ForceSC2 strategy guides on youtube, must say hats off to them for taking the time to do all that!

You guys are scary :( I've only just begun playing online and can barely follow what you all post for strategies!

It's not hard. Start by watching that video I just posted. Then go watch some Starcraft 2. Any will do. Find some commentaries and just watch. It's fun and you'll learn a lot very quickly.
