**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Don't you mean KiwiKaki? lol and yes that was the most epic game I've ever seen.

Also Idra won't win, I will bet my left nut on it, Stephano is far better.

Yeah, always mixing them up ><.

Your left nut was always going to be pretty safe to be fair, but i like seeing idra go far.

Stephano is crazily good, i wonder if he breaks into code S will he be tempted to not quit after the year, boys got talent.

Yeah very funny indeed!Watched the Semi's and Final today from VOD's,didn't expect that result, impressive!!

They were hilarious, really want VOD to see it again.

As I predicted, being so late to the party (got it just over a month ago - never played original either), I am absolutely horrible at this game.

Placement matches put me in silver, rather quickly got demoted to bronze, and I've been working my way up the ladder since with my ever-improving macro. Been watching a lot of day9 and just random games on youtube, and I deduced the thing I need to master first before anything else is my macro. Which makes my decision to start trying out some funky build orders every time I'm on a win-streak rather strange, as it quickly sends me into a losing streak, but that's another matter.

My biggest problem at the moment is knowing how many units to have at certain points, when to build more, how many to sacrifice on a skirmish, and whether to scrap my build to defend an early rush. I know which units counter which, and the obvious things like Banshees being very effective at harrassing, Colossus awesome against ground armies etc. At this level it's usually just deathballs and all-ins so if I split my units up for a harrass, I'll probably lose my main. I struggle to determine whether my army is going to beat theirs, and my micro isn't so good at the moment so I don't do well against the odds. This leads me to be a little too cautious / gun-shy - there's no worse feeling than losing your entire army in a single push.

My scouting needs improvement but I've picked up simple things, like knowing what type of build they are going for and whether I can get away with an early expand. I'm just no good at telling if I'm doing better than them.

Day9 is indeed very helpful,I was watching non-stop for the first few months when the game came out (was bronze too back then),helped me a lot.

I wouldn't focus too much on build orders at this point, learning the basics is all you need. What race do you play?

I play random at the moment, because I still don't have a particular preference for any race. Would I be better off if I just stuck to one and took to the others later on?

Yep, I've been looking forward to MLG since the last one finished. It's became my favourite event now that they're inviting Koreans, although that's partly due to the fact that I stopped watching GSL because all of the casters they got to cover for Tastosis were absolutely terrible apart from Wolf imo, really really painful to listen to, so I had to stop subscribing :(.

I might actually subscribe to MLG this month (always just watched the free streams before) now that they're going to have stuff to fill in the huge gaps on the Red and Blue streams.

Edit: Yes, MLG times are EST (BST-5) :).
