Is this actually a good stress test?
Ive recently overclocked as some of you may have read my threads, and to test things are stable Ive successfully ran several 3D Marks, CPU Burn-in and had my system running for over 24 hours without any problems. However when I run Orthos it'll crash somtimes after 26sec sometimes before a minute and others not at all.
How reliable is this for testing?

If it crashes your PC isn't 100% stable. It's one of the most CPU intensive programs you can run.

wouldnt have thought there would be a problem with the cpu its only clocked 3.0 if anything it should be the ram @ 1000mhz, did the ram test on Orthos and that was fine as well.

As i don't run a C2D this is only a guess. I think that there is a dual core driver available for Intel cpu's, if there is, install it. If as you say Orthos is failing at random times it sounds very similar to the A64 x2 problem with Orthos as well. For that AMD released a dual core cpu driver and it solved the problem. If after that it still fails, then as Jokester said you simply have an unstable clock. You will just have to go back and find the problem, perhaps a vcore hike ?

Just as an afterthought. An outright crash from Orthos is nearly allways cpu related, ram problems tend to(but not allways)provoke a fail or sometimes a system freeze.
