Orthos Stress Test Failure (Vista64)

Do you have a USB Flash Drive?

If not, they are pennies to buy for a small one and you can flash the bios from those.

Orthos is also renowned for being unstable on Vista 64bit. If you really need to stress your cpu then try Prime instead or look around for a suitable alternative.

Yeah - I wouldn't worry too much about CPU voltage up to 1.5v. In my experience, it really only started to make temps crazy high around 1.5v.

Thanks - I have a flash drive, will try that.

Also, have been using Prime now instead of Orthos.

Mate, I wouldn't worry about it... my rig run 100% stabel in windows, ALL games, including UT3, CS-S, Crysis, Bioshock etc, longest playing session was two hours on BiShock, and it was fine... benchmarks perfectly... HOWEVER, it won't run Prime95 without one of the four threads failing after about 3-4 minutes, do I care? Nope, annoying as to me that's not 100% stable, however, I'd prefer everything else NOT failing and that one failing as I don't play Prime95.

Cheers Pug

thats a fair point pug.....

the reason I wanted stability was because I got those parts with an overclock to 3.4 in mind.......and feel nervous overclocking when its not fully stable at current settings.

Which Orthos test you using?

I find that the normal Gromacs core test runs fine, but blend fails. That said, The system is stable and i have no problems.

If you want to compare settings, have a read of these:

Overclock to 2.7 GHz
Overclock to 3.0 GHz
Overclock to 3.2 GHz

I've applioed these setting to 3 different PCs and all work fine. However, it's not an exactly text book in all cases, so bear this in mind. I've since changed the settings to 8 x 410 MHz
