just got hold of my new hard drive is there any way of transfering the whole of the old drive o/s and all to the new one its from a 74gb raptor to a 150gb if this helps ?

Ghost or Acronis spring to mind. Search the forums for others.

I've always used Ghost and it's pretty easy to use. As long as it's only the HD you're changing, a simple imaging should be fine.

Neither are free, unfortunately. I've not used any freeware software to do this, but for Windows, DrvImager and DrvCloner seem to be popular freeware solutions. Failing that, you can try using partimage under a linux environment, like a Knoppix boot CD.
