OS X CD Drive Problem

Having no experience with OS X I was wondering if anyone had seen this. When I put any CD into the drive it sits for about 20 seconds clicking before it ejects again. This happens with all sorts of CD's from music to the OS X CD.

To me it seems like the CD Drive has just completely died but in the hardware section of the Mac it seems to list it as being there and functionable.

Any suggestions?

Hardware test? Put the CD and quickly restart it, then hold the c key on startup it should hopefully boot into the hardware test menu, that is if the cd stays in the drive of course :p and run the test

If that doesn't work it might be broken, what Mac is it btw?

Its a G4 PowerMac Quicksilver with OS X Tiger installed.

Yea tried that one! It still spits it out before I can run the test. Even tried booting up with the OS X Tiger cd and it did the same.. spat it out!

Me think's broken drive! :( Luckly it's not mine! hah

Definitely sounds shagged. Good thing is, you can replace it with any optical drive you'd like :)
