I must get to the cinema more often as i've not even seen most of there films.

There's lots of British nominee's this year and best actress looks certain to go to a Brit.

I really hope United 93 doesn't win anything because i thought it was vastly over-rated and was such an easy film to make.

I've not seen it yet, but does Will Smith really deserve a nomination for best actor in The Pursuit Of Happyness?

Also it's interesting to note that Clint Eastwood gets his best director nomination for Letters From Iwo Jima and NOT Flags Of Our Fathers.

This is who I think will win:

Babel

I am pleased to announce that I have not seen any of the films nominated for anything. :D

I went to the cinema twice last year. There was that little of interest on for me. X-Men III and Clerks 2.

Pleased? Quite a few of the films look to very good, serious films. Not the usual Hollywood claptrap. I'm currently trying to get to the cinema to see The Last King, Babel and Apocalypto. The Departed was great, but i doubt it will win both awards. Doesnt normally work that way does it?

Also, what happened to the guy in Infamous? I thought he was at least supposed to be getting a nomination.

Will Smith is absolutely fantastic in the Pursuit of Happiness. I'm not in the least bit surprised that he's been nominated.

I hope to see the Last King of Scotland before the week is out, so I'll reserve judgement on who deserves the Oscar, but Big Willy certainly deserved the nomination.

How did Little Miss Sunshine find its way to Oscar nominations I will never know. It's a B movie. With some questionable contexts. And most annoying kids ever.

Blood Diamond was better than Departed too.

Clint will probably take Oscar, I mean in his age, to make two painfully long movies about the same place and time in one year? Maybe he forgot he made Flags of Our Fathers and had "you gotta make that movie about Iwo Jima" note still in his diary...

I think many of these films are just comming out here, but I would love to see "An Inconvenient Truth " win at least one as it is more and more a very important subject, and it would be a chance for the US to recognise that they are one of the worst offenders in this area.

Also:
Best actress - Meryl Streep, The Devil Wears Prada.
Without a doubt she was just so good in it.

And if Borat wins and Oscar, I will not watch movies for two months. That has got to be a joke!!!!

Even if it contains a lot of very questionable data and includes bits known to be untrue for better impact?

It would seem that this is what it takes to get thought to people these days, and there is no questioning the validity of the message as a whole.

Indeed, the moment he gets his job and his eyes well up is the saddest scene of the year. Awesome.

If you listen to the 'experts', you will hear a lot of them saying LMS could well get best picture. I havn't seen it myself.

I'm sure Mark Kermode tipped it as an outsided for best picture.

This is interesting. It appears that the winner of this award has matched the winner of the Oscar in 11 out of 17 years.
