OSX Games

Funnily enough I was going to ask the same question having just bought a base spec late 2012 Mac Mini.

I presume these things can run an old version of Command & Conquer ... (Tiberium Sun era)?

They can handle far more modern games, even in a VM. Find some reviews of the Mini and there'll be game benchmarks.

I still have my Macbook Pro 15" Early 2011 model and it runs pretty much everything I throw at it - This is why I can't understand when people still think that Macs can't game. The only bad thing when it comes to gaming is there isn't enough games that are Mac supported - But with an SSD you can load up Boot camp within 10 seconds, so it's not exactly a huge downside :p

Not much. Apple's lack of support for the latest versions of OpenGL mean that games run significantly better under Windows.

Recently downloaded Grid via the app store - it's old but still looks good and plays silky smooth on the Macbook Air. Kills a bit of time on the plane/train, although could do with getting one of those Steelseries mobile game controllers as the keyboard isn't the easiest to control.

Regarding iPad mini

I have a iPad mini since four months and my favourite game is NFS most wanted. I like this game as it is quite addictive and keeps me absorbed for a long time.

contemplating purchasing cities in motion 2, sounds like it will be similar to transport tycoon which I spent many an hour playing when I was a kid. Also noticed Baldur's gate has been released for OSX, could be a good time killer!

I have the quad core 2012 mini and it can deal with most things fine so I assume the pof spec one can do pretty much anything too, just not skyrim or total war 2, they seem to kill the hd4000.

Xcom in bootcamp works really well though!
