** OSX Yosemite **

This has all but convinced me to come back to the Mac.

I'm just not gaming on the PC anymore and I like the integration features like texting and calling from the desktop. The UI is looking pretty polished with the new icons and there's been more than one occasion when I've wanted the portability of a laptop and just haven't bothered firing up the desktop.

If I could sell my PC with minimal fuss I'd probably buy a MBP when they're refreshed

Since when did you go PC EVH?

Hate it personally but there is some nice features. Just seems like Apple is playing catch up with all these updates.

Yo-Seh-Mitty.

Before the keynote I always pronounced it Yo-sem-ite, but they pronounced it Yo-seh-mitty (as per Logsi above)

I have been using Windows 8, and whilst I don't mind the OS and like gaming I just don't do enough to justify the rig I have. I also remember why I hate the PC.. If you get bored of it, you have to sell each component and faff about for a long time if you want to make the switch.

I want to switch back, but the thought of disassembling the PC (with all watercooling), boxing it up, selling it on MM and hoping I don't lose a wedge of money is depressing.

I used to like being able to sell a MBP or iMac at the drop of the hat, put a little money toward it and upgrade. I suppose I'm not prepared to do that to get the latest and greatest GPU/CPU whatever.

Plus I like the look of Yosemite, and haven't owned a Mac since snow leopard, so want to get back in to the ecosystem.

I did that recently with my 2010 Mac Pro, and it's so simple. Same with my previous MBP. Just keep it looking well, and in prime shape and the original box. No faffing about. I seriously couldn't stand selling my old windows systems.

It's near impossible selling it as a complete unit, and people always wanting to split it and pick and choose parts.

Yosemite looks brilliant, and I can't wait for it. All the features are fantastic. Especially the iOS mirroring and native recording. I do hope they improve the AMD drivers, and OpenGL support further as well.

I'm still a bit confused. You mean you can plug your iOS device into your Mac via USB and record the screen to a Quicktime movie?

He means you can record what's happening on your screen (computer) without any 3rd party application. It could be useful for creating tutorials and the like.

Yes, I've been googling in the meantime. Seems very handy. I wonder if you can record streaming video from apps this way, too.

You used to be able to record / screen capture using QuickTime Pro, not sure if that's still the case?

You could do it with regular old Quicktime Player on OS X Snow Leopard. I did it. It's just an option in the file drop down menu. And still does it in Mavericks.

Mind you, it's not a feature many people know about. I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't been going through each and every single program when I first started using Macs.

Yup, the new thing is just plugging in an iOS device and having it mirrored, and allowing Quicktime to just record that, instead of your entire screen. :)

Very handy stuff, even for plugging in and watching movies, and the like. If you're one for that.
