OTE - What does this mean?

Always thought it meant either 'Overtime Excluded' or 'On Target Earnings' (Sale type jobs)?

OTE, means On Target Earnings.

It is based on a "Target" performance, and you are paid against that performance (normally a sales commission).

Thanks for that post I understand it much better now, and sadly yeah I didn't ask too many questions about salary because people say you shouldn't ask as it makes them think your only in it for the money?

but is their a basic salary with marketing or is it all this OTE based?

proper marketing jobs ( if marketing is a proper job ;) ) are usually a basic salary, would be wary of any witha large amount of target related earnings ( bonuses are a different thing )

If it's a sales job, well if you make lots of money then the company are going to make a hell of a lot along the way, so being money driven is often seen as a good characteristic.
