Did you know there are 91 users currently viewing this graphics forum, but only 1 user viewing the "Optical Storage and Writing" forum? How about some of us head over to that forum to balance the numbers.

I remember when dvd drives were stuck at 16x for years then one day they started coming lut with 22x models I was like......'wow i really don't care anymore'. I can't even be bothered with Blu-Ray.

Well I've taken the DVD out of my PC (was IDE, you see) and I'm not sure if it's worth buying a new SATA one. It gets occasional use as a DVD player (I don't have blue ray, so shoot me :p)

THAT'S VERY NICE FOR YOU GRANDDAD! ARE YOU WARM ENOUGH?

:D

Fair enough. If optical disks disappeared overnight it wouldn't change a thing for me

Lawl!

For me, uni software arrives on disc 1~2 months before the module starts. I can download the software once it starts but I like to get a head start so need the disc.

teh problem is optical topics are dead ... there nothing worth talkign about :( i get practically any stuff vai download these days... all my other stuff is consoel and soem are disc and other digital

Haven't had an optical drive for 6 years. No need for one these days unless you have a blu-ray drive on a HTPC

no

optical storage and writing = buy once and forget. I've had my Plextor dvdrw for 8 years and never upgraded once as there has been no need.

gpu= buy and upgrade, buy and upgrade. It's a vicious cycle.

I probably buy as many optical drives as I do graphics cards.

I don't spend any time on the "Optical Storage and Writing" forum because its a rather boring subject.

"Optical Storage and Writing" should be renamed as "Royston Vasey".

whilst I did not in fact laugh out loud, I did at least smirk at this :)

and @ the OP... the only optical drive in my house is in my laptop and I didn't put it there on purpose, I couldn't comment on anything to with them... sorry

I do regularly pop in to the CPU / OC / Watercooling / Monitor forums as well as the GPU one
