Proven how exactly?

My only experience was of it spelling out my Mums "new" car - MGBGT. I'd taken my finger off the glass and no-one else in the room knew.

I can't remember what I was watching, but it was very conclusive. It followed a group that were looking for a first time experience and one person was particularly enthusiastic - the sort that believed blindly that it would work. The results just so happened to be ones relevant to her past etc etc. When studying the recordings it is clear by looking at the tendons and muscles in her hands that she was pushing (Even if she didn't mean to or know she was).

a rather big load of bull imo.
never belived in all that sort of stuff myself though, all seems rather farfetched and stupid. Derren brown has made me see the truth if you will ;)

Ah, gotcha. Yep, I can see that explaining some occurences.

i've been told stories by my mother that took place several years ago just after her father had commited suicide.

they tried it out in a pub called the nothern star in which the board explained the death of her father and something about everyone else in the room (no one else in the room knew of course :o) they then threw the glass in which it bounced twice before breaking, the pub then burnt down 2 months later.

i mean the area of the pub probly helped the fact that it burnt down but still she remembers in such detail its crazy.

Hehehe!

I believe that there's a perfectly rational, scientific explanation for Ouija boards - but that it's possible we don't have the understanding necessary to give that explanation just yet!

Wow your mums got a cool car! What colour is it and is it with chrome of black bumpers?

On topic sometiems I think there is soemthing behind it. Never persoanlly had any experince of it. All I have seen is a load of people did it in my mates room at a house party, he didnt know about it and for about a week he couldnt sleep proporly or concentrate, which for him was bizzare, co-inky-dink maybe who knows.

I tried it when i was in primary school.
The piece of glass moved. Or to be more precise, it was pushed.

Going on this alone it can not be disproved, but even so I dont believe it.

I may be wrong, and I'll say sorry to you all on the day that any solid evidence, let alone proof comes along.

I'm quite sceptical and believe it is mainly to do with opening up and talking to your subconcious, but I'm not convinced this is totally safe either.

If you look at it objectivly it's crazy, I mean you have a piece of wood or paper with letters on and a glass....why this would be the chosen communication device of the dead is beyond me.

But one of my best mates mother used to do work as a medium. She has helped put spirits to rest in houses and could tell if people had been messing about with Ouija boards as soon as she walked into a building.

So I dunno...

this is *another forums* 'question of the week' :)
there are a few good stories on there
i don't have any experience with ouiji boards, etc, mainly becuase i am scared of *everything*, and i know i would absolutely wet myself if anything at all happened
i'm even scared of most haunted :(

I think it's like all these "mind readers" there are enough people who know enough about extracting just enough info, or know you well enough, or are very clever at drawing information out of you without realising and making this work to make it look supernatural. Don't get me wrong there's a lot of skill involved just like that Derren Brown guy. I just don't believe in magic and that sort of thing. I'm comfortable to believe there are spirits and we have a soul but I don't believe that in this state of conciousness or in this plane of existence we can observer or interact with it. I don't believe that ouija boards or similar things are a gateway into the other world or whatever.

They are fun for freaking people out who need to believe in that sort of thing, or giving people some strength or "answers" or some form of closure I guess. Then again I guess you have to believe it to see it... But I believe you have to be ready to believe it's real to be able to observe it anyway.

It doesn't scare me in the slightest as I think all that is a bunch of rubbish, and I don't believe in all that voodoo, mumbo jumbo. Heck I even walk under ladders and break mirrors to prove the point. Superstition is a waste of time and it's quite pathetic really.
