I feel terrible and great at the same time. Every single one of our athletes deserves far far greater recognition than frankly I think they get. Take in consideration how much attention retards of BB get Etc and they will probably end up with a 30min segment on The One Show or something.
We have a very small country and in the medals table there are nations much larger and as wealthy as us, who have are not remotely in the same league, we are absolutely smashing it, these people should he considered hero's.
I feel guilty for saying "our" achievement as these people are alone in the training, their training team deserve recognition as well. I'd imagine the lottery paid for most of this, so we'll done poor people. :p
I am completely devoid of any effort in these olympics but somehow I am very proud of how some of us have done so well, if anything I am a little inspired.
How about you?

They're not alone, now due to funding many of them have teams of people dedicated to specific targets and specific design processes, to not just build a team but the next team to follow also.

It is great what has happened in certain areas of British sport, and hopefully over time it can expand to others.
Issues persist that it almost takes a superhuman solo effort by a person to get a sport on the radar for it to then get funded and the selfperpuation of victory and funding and victory to follow.

Onwards.

I mean alone as in, they get up everyday at god knows what time to do this. (I'm guessing they don't have jobs) everyday for how ever many days. I doubt the training team or designers do the same.

No, thats what the funding is for from the Lottery etc, so they dont have to work (although some, like Peaty? who works on his parents farm)

Off topic but, here is an interesting fact I just heard on the radio.

Q: Sir Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Mo Farah and Sir Steven Redgrave. What do they all have in common?

A: They all share the same birthday! March 23rd. Amazing eh. :D

Why do you think they deserve that much recognition?

Athletes are getting money for entertaining. They get the recognition they deserve, which is massively more than the recognition public servants in the country get.

I would also think much less of anyone who believes they deserve more recognition for what they do, given that they are probably living out their dream at the moment. I don't believe that to be the case for many sportsmen/women.

If I had the ability to randomly give recognition to people, people at the Olympics wouldn't come very high on my list.

edit:

For the record I would happily congratulate anyone that manages to achieve respectable goals, such as competing in the Olympic.

I read that last night - very strange co-incidence indeed.:)

Seems like there has been some international backstabbing especially in regards to GB's cycling team

Australians, French and a few others are tweeting (etc) some rather accusatory comments (like "£ycling" , "of course GB are doing well, they bring the biggest team", " their biggest competitor, Russia, have had majority of their atthletes banned" etc etc )

It's easy to measure who the best sprint cyclist, fast runner, or strongest lifter is - even when comparing the entire world.

It's a bit less easy to identify the greatest data analyst, office cleaner, or admin assistant, so difficult to ascribe such recognition on them. It would probably be a bit less entertaining too.

We are doing great so far, hopefully we can hold onto second.

It was the same at the last Olympics, the French accused us of having magic wheels.

I'm amazed we are getting so close to the 65 medal tally of London, Jade won her final overnight, taking us to 56 medals and we still have more hopes to come including Nicola Adams' guaranteed gold/silver while trying to defend her boxing title from 2012.

Our athletes have smashed the 48 medal target, lots of kudos to them!

Dont forget the ladies Hockey gauranteed Gold /Silver also which I think is immense and really looking forward to the final tonight.

I think we will end up being just shy of 65 medals, but given that its being compared to a "home" Olympics, its absolutely stunning we have gotten anywhere close.

Total respect to the full team, they have done amazingly (and it would just top everything if we beat China on the medal table into the bargain :D)

With the women's Hockey gold, Team GB has now won gold in 14 different sports. The nearest rival is 10 and that includes the USA and China. If Adams or Joyce can get a gold in Boxing, that would be 15 different sports out of a total of 31. Amazing.
