Thanks again, everyone. I've been looking through old pics feeling sentimental, and not a little melancholy. This seems a more fitting tribute, some old (safe for work) potato-quality photos of her doing what she did best.
I've always been more of a cat person, but that was a poignant and yet lovely story on how well you've brought Gypsy up, how well trained she became and that she was in a loving home. She had a long life and will have out-lived most dog breeds by 3-4 years. I also loved that your vet was honest and waivered their charge.
When someone loses a pet, I think of the starting year, so in this case 17 years ago would have been 2005. What was life like in 2005? And then think of all of the years after that @Rainmaker and Gypsy have been through all of those years together.
Sorry to hear that -Dog or Cat it's probably worst moment of your life - I held our English bull terrier when vet put her to sleep - she had kidney failure.
After I left home I have had cats and buried quite a few of them and it is never easy - You will always look back with fond memories but the pain does get easier as time goes by.
We had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our 18 year old cat George put to sleep this week. His bladder packed up in the end and he was losing weight fast, probably kidney failure Hardest decision I have ever had to make.
We are devastated to say the least. So I know how you feel. You get so fond of pets, they are just like family.
