"Out of curiosity" question

Whats it like using windows with a one click mouse ?

The mouse has two buttons, cleverly disguised as one ;)

As for laptops.. you can just press 2 fingers on the trackpad and click the button underneath to get a right-click

Dead simple - exactly the same as in Mac OS - you just place 2 fingers on the track pad and click the button - it acts as your right mouse click in both OS's :)

Incidently, you don't have a Delete key either ;) This foxed me when I came to check on a process in Vista. So I tried CTRL + ALT + Backspace and it worked :D Looks like they mapped the delete function to Backspace, even though it still actually works as Backspace and not Delete ;)

The multi-touch gestures also work in Windows, at least the 2-finger scroll does. This gesture for scrolling is so much better than track-pads that they incorporate that "side-strip" for scrolling on.

Obviously the iMac is a very nice space saving idea, particularly given te 3ghz C2D chips you get in them now.

If space is at such a premium, don't forget to take notebooks and Shuttle PC systems into account as well :)

The iMac is perfect if you want an all-in-one computer.

One thing I found when I switched to a Mac Pro (from a 24" iMac) is that the internal speakers of the iMac really are a godsend.. cable tidying external speakers just isn't an issue with an iMac, and if you get the wireless keyboard and mouse you can just store them away too :)

If space is a premium, how about a Mac Mini onto a HDTV... just add USB TV Dongle and its a fully fledged PVR with Frontrow or EyeTV. :) Whilst also being a pretty decent system as well.

With the space saving idea, i do want a PC that takes up pretty much no space, so i.e a laptop, HOWEVER i do want it to be able to play at least some games (may get into some mmorpg soon) therefor a mac mini/most laptops arnt really up to that standard.

The new MacBook would probably handle WoW, seeing as the gpu was bumped recently.

Don't expect to play the next big MMORPG when it arrives, but older games; yes.

At the end of the day it comes down to price; MacBook Pro and the iMac would be your best bet, and they're roughly the same price-wise.

dam you all, this has gone from 'i wonder what macs are like' to me thinking about going out on a wim and spending near £1300 :o

Get yourself an afternoon in the Apple store and have a good play with one before spending soo much on something you may not get along with... test drive it for a few hours, even get a stool off the staff, im sure if they think youre going to buy one they wil be more than happy to let you have a play.

Unless you work for Apple, then the HE discount will be more. Fact.

I'm guessing you're in the NHS or similar? ;)

Forces apparently its 10%.

Anyway i will try find a local apple shop and have a play around etc, is there any type of a osx download so you can trial it on a normal PC?

The HE discount is 14%, and no, you cannot try OS X on a PC legally.

There are ways to install it, but that is forbidden on these forums matey
