Out of date beer?!

Tiger = ok
Heineken = Awesome from Holland/ Poo from UK
Grolsch = Poo
Budvar = Nice
Hoegaarden = Lovely but has to be served correctly
Tyskie = Deadly but nice :)
Zywiec = Nice but bit flimsy
Duvel = Awesome rocket fuel
Kron Grand Cru + Blanc = Nice but in small amounts

I could probably go on all night with types of lager I have tried.

Waits for the "Lager.....bleurgh, real ale is where it's at"

Also carling isn't as bad as foster, carlsberg or stella.

KaHn

Grrrm. I remember having Zywiec and Tyskie back in Poland a few years ago, I was amazed when they made it over here. That's Interbrew's distribution for you.

I'm less enamoured with the rest of your lager choices though, especially describing Grolsch as "poo", but next to Liverpool-Lad I am the quintessential beer snob.

To keep this mostly on topic though, Carling is probably the most disgusting beer I've ever tried. I cannot finish it if given a pint. I remember someone kindly bought me a pint a few months ago and even though I had run out of money and couldn't afford any more beer, I threw it in the flower beds since the thought of finishing it was too horrible.

Just drink it, ignore all the larger snobs on here who I'm sure in the past have drunk plenty of the cheap stuff.

I wish people would learn to ignore sell by dates and actually make an educated decision as to if the stuff is off or not! Beer=simply open can and take a swig if it tastes ok drink it! Most food=smeall and inspect if it doesn't smell funny and isn't mouldy cook it well and eat it! So much stuff gets wasted in this country due to the religious following of a pretty arbitrary date!

I'm pretty sure **** doesn't go off so you should be fine :)

I guess you've never pee'd in a bottle and left it a month then? :p

Is that Tyskie stuff actually good? Loads of polish people buy it at work (tesco) - don't think I've noticed any brits buying it though.

Real men drink Tennent's!

Look drink some decent beer now and straight after drink all the Carling then you wont care anyway and you've done some useful research.

Love Tyskie Myself, always good nipping to the local polish offie and getting 6 bottles of that stuff. always provides a good laugh :D

When I'm in my local though, I generally drink Export, only because its strong lol.

i liked Effes Pilsen when i was in turkey .. don't quite know what it has to do with this thread but thought i would tell you.

Aye, except the reason I drink Tennents is because it is easily available everywhere here, reasonably cheap and I'm not sure there is much of a difference between a good pint and a bad one which makes it a safe choice. ;)

It isn't likely to make much odds if the lager is half a month out of date, even a few months out of date but once you get beyond a year I'd be a little more wary. As has been said, have a sniff and a taste then remember what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger - the statement is complete mince but it helps get nasty things like Carling out the way. :p

I was actually going to put [please no lectures] but i thought i wouldnt need to.

Well therein lies a bit of a problem, OcUK could possibly get into trouble for opinions/advice posted on the forums (see the rule on no medical advice) so I don't think advice about an illegal course of action would go down too well but I'm happy to be corrected about this by a moderator. :)

couldn't the person be disabled , working late so cant get to the shop , banned from the local shop for exposing his bits to the owners? Seems there is no evidence that he is infact talking about underage drinkers surely there is nothing wrong with discussing it on this forum?

Could be but look at the probabilities, "friends who's parents won't buy it for them" i.e. more than one friend who has parents refusing to or unable to buy them alcohol. The only likely situation is underage drinking and if they are banned from the local shop for something like that I'd suggest they might be as well not getting alcohol anyway. :)

could be, but it's highly unlikely.

I hate it when I'm serving some 40yr old who's buying 4cans of some decent beer, a couple of bottles of wine and 30odd bottles of alcopops or some really cheap cider with it. I feel bad, because I should probably refuse them but don't because I don't want to cause a scene.
