Just found this pack of Iceland frozen cooked chicken strips in my freezer with best before date of April 2022. Are they still safe to eat?

I hate food waste but I'm unsure if I should use them or not. If it was a bag of frozen chips or peas or even a pizza, etc, then no bother but.. I don't know the risk with this..

If not then I'll defrost them anyway and put them out in the garden for the gulls and crows.

you are going to cook/heat them before you eat them anyway - I assume ? I wouldn't ever just thaw and eat.

eg. usually have cold turkey left at xmas which we freeze, and then subsequently, make a fricassee, with white sauce and mushrooms, or curry, or pie.

No power outages since 2021 that I'm aware of, even if it was off for a couple of hours the freezer would have stayed frozen.

best before rather than use by is the main thing i look for. Depends how many times kids leave freezer open...

Are you short of a few quid? Just lob it and buy some stuff that isn’t minging.

You would be surprised what is happening in this country right now.

Im not saying this is impacting Lee however;

I have dealt with customers in my line of work (who have very good jobs, even a Solicitor) but having to do bar work or other hospitality work etc at the weekends and still using food banks!

I don’t think folk realise how good they have it at times.

Anyone on a SVR mortgage has become cannon fodder for the BoE this last while. Still early days yet!

Off topic but relevant to eating food that is past it’s BBE date.

He won set for life on the lottery. £10k a month for 30 years.

Found this on the internet so it must be true "Food stored at 0° Fahrenheit (-18c) or below is safe to eat indefinitely (although quality and taste may be compromised as time passes). While many foods will freeze at about 32° Fahrenheit, they need to be stored at 0° Fahrenheit to slow down deterioration."
