ive noticed since the past couple of years hardware has had it's serious changes some people pay out extreme amounts of cash for there rigs and thay get excited when there desktop arrives in there hands and the following year it's out of date and the last hardware is much cheaper and so it means hardware and such a demand these days i know it's always been like that but come on guys it's every month now right LOL

Most people who change hardware often, sell their old components to minimise cost, thus allowing them to keep up with the latest hardware without putting too much strain on the bank balance or they are stupidly rich:D.

It's no different to any time before, really. There have always been people who want the very latest and upgrade every other month - and if they have the money to do it, good for them. The rest of us wait for bargains like the 8800GT and make sensible upgrades to save as much as we can.

For some people building pc's is their hobby so its kind of justified them spending that extra penny on them. At the moment im just trying to squeeze every last bit i can get out mine before an upgrade is needed.

First of all i don't ever recall since 1998 a card being released that is way better and cheaper than the next bracket up card by the same company and that card remaining at the higher price of the new better card.

When they release a card better than it's 3rd 2nd 1st etc best card it's always more expensive than it, or the new cards come in to line price wise to reflect this.

What should be happening is the 8800gts 320mb should be £100-£120 new the 640 mb version £120-£140 new the 8800gtx £200 new
alarming that this has not currently happened as of yet, i can only assume this is a reliance on customer ignorance to buy these worse cards for £200+.

If you wait you lose if you move fast you lose only way to minimize loss is to sell before the mass knows whats what and upgrade as you go the 8800gt is a classic example of this.

I had my gts up for sale and it sold way before the mass knew about the 8800gt but got a non paying bidder same happened again npb so am now stuck with an 8800 gts 640mb 3 months old worth about £100 now if i get lucky.

Just the way it goes, was very naughty all the info suggesting and nvidia saying it's to fill the gap between the 8600gts and 8800gts when in fact it's beat the gts and is on the heels of the gtx ..... (which is still £300+ ERM WHY????) ....... meaning a lot of angry recent gts gtx buyers foaming at the mouth and hoping ATI come with something and show their discontent at this move by nvidia and going with ATI.

Just got to act so fast in this day and age, soon as there is a even the faintest whiff of something cheaper and better i am bang on it my card/cpu/board will be in the mm ultra fast.

I did feel sorry for the poor chaps buying 8800gts 640mb cards in the mm for £210 2 weeks before the gt launch though.

Lessons learned are always have a backup card for situations like this and have no mercy for your uninformed buyer.
