Out of the loop on gpu's

Hi people
I haven't upgraded my gpu for a few years, currently have a 7970 and have been very happy with it.
I have recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor and have got into gaming again thanks to far cry 3 and 4.
What card would I need to max out these games at 60fps max budget of £300?
I have no preferance to nvidia or amd but like good bang for buck without the need to overclock too much as I never seem very successful overclocking gpus

To max those titles out on a single card possibly a 989GTX or 290X. I know my 970 can max those titles at 1200p but sometimes dips just bekow 60.

If your motherboard supports it, you could crossfire your existing card with another 7970 or 280X.

That's the biggest gain in max fps for the least outlay.



Edit : what cpu and psu do you have.

3570k and corsair 620 PSU with a gigabyte z77 motherboard.
Is the 780 ti a worthy upgrade??

Yes.

A 970 is surely a better option than a 780ti? Unless the 780ti is used and quite cheap.
