I currently have the following:

I7 920 @ 4.2Ghz
6Gb DDr3
UDR3
PC Power and Cooling 750 Watt

Im currently using an old 4870 and ive just started gaming again. I game at 1920 by 1200 and the graphics card is really showing its age with all these new games.

I was looking at staying with ATI just because they are normally priced better. Looking at spending £250 max. Is the 7970 really worth the extra over the 7950?

So the question is... What do you guys recommend?

My cpu wont hold this gpu back at all will it? Ive had my 920 for a long time now...

I know the sapphire is a little more expensive but i already own sleeping dogs. id sell sleeping dogs and far cry 3. so it works out around the same price really. Yes im being sad, i just love the look of the cooler on the sapphire lol!

Edit:

However i do plan to overclock the nuts of the card, so if i cant change the volts on the sapphire that is problem for me.

Its to last me a couple of years, so id rather get something that will last.

I really cant wait any longer, But the msi is looking really good at £240 especially with those games thrown in for free.

Have you overclocked it? What sort of clocks are you getting if so?

Sorry, I have not just used the 4870 all this time mate. Ive had 5870's in crossfire and 6950's. I just stopped gaming and sold them on. Just to clear that up.

I ended up goin for the MSI 7950 and im running at max ccc clocks (1100 core/1575 mem).

Im using 12.11 drivers yes.

The card performs really well. Its a beast . I installed afterburner but it is just the same as ccc it wont let me go past 1100/1575?
