Out of warranty 360 disc drive problems

My Xbox 360s drive has started making a horrible grinding noise while spinning up.
Its at its worse when there isn't a disc and is worse for dvds than for games.

Any suggestions?

Take it back to where you got it and try using the Sale of Goods act maybe?

Wasn't there something on TV recently where a couple did this to a high street games retailer, after being told they would have to contact Microsoft and pay?
