Well the day has finally arrived, where Im dragged kicking and screaming into sensible land:eek:

The ST3 has given way to a nice sensible Honda Accord 2.2 ESGT:eek: I was genuinly sad watching the ST being trailered away, It had given me sterling service for the last 3 years and 93k, Ive had so much fun in this car, but it was time I got a bigger 4 door motor, the Accord was the car that appealed to me most, I looked at the 3 series, but I couldnt have the one I wanted (325d m) and the C class was just a bit poo with a manual, A4 was a nono with that stupid electronic handbrake.

Anyway, the Accord has a surprising chassis, It reminds me of the old E39, Its handling belies its size, nice sharp steering, fanatastic gear change, the engine is unfortunately a diseasal, but it does rev a little more than other diesels, and has the same amount of torque as the ST.The interior is in a different league to the ST, but I do prefer the Focus Recaro seats.

All in all, Im gonna miss the ST's burble and exhaust note intensly, but I think Ive got a car that I can still have some fun in, and I like the blingy looks. And to soften the blow Ive got a nice little toy arriving sunday:D

What a downgrade :(

Not keen at all on the Accord to be honest, especially in that colour

I opened this thread, looked at the pictures and thought "Nice, he's traded his Accord in for a Focus ST". Then I read the post.

Dunno why but I really fancied a red car this time round, hence the colour choice, the only other options were grey or silver and neither of them really ticked the box.I think it looks really good.

I didnt actually trade the ST, Its company motor so to speak, but the ****'s have changed the system so we can now only have diseasals.

It's not RWD. I think he meant it has the same traits as the E39, not it handles like one. Nice car though, shame you had to chop in the ST for it, but it should at least be comfier, more toys and far better build quality :)

:( I dread the day I get sensible and have to do something along these lines...

Same here. If I'm dragged kicking and screaming into the world of sensible motoring, I'll sure as hell kick and scream until I get something fun aswell! :D

It doesn't have to end up that way, I'm old and have the Z4 still, but an e46 325i sports touring for the impending family stuff. ;)

I don't mind the Accord that much although it reminds me too much of my parents hybrid Civic.

Ahhh but I do have something interesting arriving on sunday, which is RWD:p So it aint all bad!

My E39 reference isnt a direct comparison, its more of thats the way I felt when I drove the E39.the Accord handles really well, its really doesnt handle like it looks (ie big and clunky) if that makes sense.

I'll get some better pics up later.

MX5? :p

Damn it, my many threads on the topic have given it away.Yeah I have a 1.8 1995 UK model on the way.

At the end of the day the ST was great, but I could never track day or take it on the nurburg ring, so this will be a better combo for me!

Actually Ive just been thinking, Ive actually turned full circle in 13 years of driving. My first car was a Honda Accord 1.8 ex, B Reg.That beast cost me £40 from the scrapper with a bit test and tax.Spookey stuff!
