1200cc, siamese-port, all-iron Opel lump. Circa 40bhp at the wheels.

Engine sits behind front axle line too ;) ;D

Rather happy I must admit.....

First lift in:

And look at the charger outet and start of the new water rails 8-)

Nip and tuck to the chassis rails to clear the charger, all boxed in with decent spec 2mm steel....... does help to have a full fab shop on hand ;D

DSCF0250.jpg

All welded in by IRSM...... the only mods needed in the engine bay

New engine mounts all welded in as well

And finally Tunnel chopped out to clear the type 9 box

Will reposition lever hole over the lever and fabricate some infil panels to suit ;)

Cheers

What we have here, ladles and gentlespoons is a 1600 Zetec SE running an Eaton M45, Jag chargecooler, 10.2:1 Static CR, DTA S60 ECU (latest version now has full traction control ;)), Honda S2000-based all-Titanium exhaust.

220-230bhp expected at 9psi from the lump...Not bad in something weighing about 800Kg with fluids and driver ;)

What I love is how OEM the blower install looks - Ford should run them like this from the factory ;).

Check the fab work between blower and chargecooler...It's just a pity that the chargecooler has to have the text upside down :(

Thats going to shift some then!

I guess the welding on the tubing betwixt charger and cooler was home-grown? Looks mighty-impressive work!

A local engineering firm, I think.

If not then 'done at work' ;)

I kinda like the look of the writing upside down, makes you look at it and think...... "hmmm, something is afoot" ;)

Very nice, the SE is an excellent engine, but I'm wondering why you didn't "keep it in the family" by going for a 1.6 XE?

What sort of torque are you expecting? Are you running a stock Type 9? Is this too many questions?

A 1600

Why not a 2litre?

Why not a honking great big 5 litre V8? Why not a Rolls Royce Meteor/Merlin in fact?

The Zetec SE is an all alloy engine, developed by Yamaha & Mazda. It's light, compact and has lots of potential. The 2.0 Zetec E is iron blocked, so heavier to start with and larger as well.

A 1600 Zetec SE is about 82Kg all-in.

You're looking at over 118Kg for a Zetec E (without ancilliaries).

Hehehe - not mine. Wish it was though ;)

Although...Something like this may yet appear around these here parts...

The engine above has a completely stock head and internals...

Although the 16XE is a nice wee lump, you're limited to around 180bhp by the head and bottom end.

It's a stock Type 9, running through a Manta A axle (good for about 230 lb/ft) which will be replaced in the new year by a properly four-linked Isuzu Piazza Turbo LSD-shod axle (good for nearly 300 lb/ft).

I think Dom's mentioned a round 200 lb/ft before.

...Need to wait until it's running (three weeks or so...) before it can be dyno'd properly.
