Hi all.

Ive recently moved into my new home and for the first time ever I'm the proud owner of a back garden.

I'm wanting to add some speakers to the exterior of the property for when we have parties and BBQ's etc but I'm unsure of the best way to go with this.

Any experience out there for me to tap? What kit will I need? I'm not wanting to spend a fortune but on the same hand I don't want something that's going to sound poor.

Have a look at audiovolt. They do good 100v line amps - which although not like sennheiser or mission etc are pretty good for outdoor. I have a 3 zone, 12 speaker set up.

The speakers are by a brand called Adastra - and are the ones used in background music systems in pubs etc..

Cheap little amp with an AirPlay adapter from Belkin and it works seamlessly with all the speakers in the house.

I’ve run cables for my speakers in conduit above ground, under ground and everywhere in between.

It’s obvs a fixed system - but is probably a fraction of the cost of posh Sonos stuff.

Audiovolt have great CS too - they’ll design systems for you.

Cheers mate, I will take a look

Are you looking for "Smart" speakers, or some passive ones that you can wire to an existing power amp?

Now there's the question!

I honestly have no idea. I don't know what's best or what is the best route to go if I'm being totally honest!

All I know is I have the idea that I want to be able to play music out in the garden and if I can also incorporate my shed into the mix even better. I dont want a portable speaker that I move around I would like a more permanent solution if that make the hardware selection easier.

I'm really at the hands of you guys here as I don't know anything about the kit I will need / require.

Honestly I’d just get a decent Bluetooth speaker unless you are planning to be partying every night and what ever you choose will hack all your neighbours off as they are forced to listen to your 70’s disco beats on a Sunday lunchtime!

I can speak with experiance here - It's great fun living next door to a new neighbour playing music right next door to your back door - The same thing applies to even down the garden. Even with doors and windows shut it was blasting out. It was no good asking for them to turn it down as they were in their 20-30 and FO would have been his answer. Forunately (months late)he ask me for advise on selling and buying a 4bed house and convinced him he would make loads more money with the new house -It was good ridence to a piece of ****
11.00 he started to set up and I did regret selling my chain saw as the start of BBQ was a good time to cut up loads of logs.
