Outlook Cached Mode

We have some users who are using outlook in cached mode with a mailbox size of 16MB, the limits are set at 500MB so there's not a problem with the Mailbox size, but they keep getting the "mailbox limit" has been reached, but when you check the size from that popup, again, it shows as 16MB.

I've checked the limits in AD and exchange, but they are all set correct.

The fact it's only affecting certain users using cached mode is very strange. When you set them to Online mode, it works fine

Any suggestions?

My googling skills are weak on this one as I've not been able to find much about it

Are they laptop users?

If not why do you have cached mode enabled anyway?

And as others have said, recreating the ost will sort it out, but for how long?? lol

When you check the mailbox size within Outlook, does it display the same mailbox size on local data as well as server data?

Are the affected users all in the same OU in AD?

They are showing exactly the same size...

And yeah, they are in the same OU in AD :|

I'm completely stumped by this one!

Are the mailboxes on the client and server reporting the same size?

Are there any messages from the sysadmin mailbox advising that their mailboxes are too large?

Can you open the mailboxes in Outlook web access and send receeve emails?

Also an issue with cached mode I've seen a few times, specifically it not syncin'g, although there's plently of mailbox space left, and it's due to some weird formating mail issue (havne't found a fix, but a workaround). may be relevant, maybe not but worth a try.

Logon to Outlook web access as the user, there will be an email that Outlook does not like and will not sync with to the exchange server BEYOND THIS MESSAGE. Find the email and delete it, delete from deleted items aswell then open Outlook and it will populate with emails, syncin'g.

Hope this helps?
