Hi,

The old girl is having an issue with outlook expres. It, all of a sudden, refuses to send emails out.

* Edit: This is Vista Windows Mail, not OE
* No error is given, they just sit in the outbox
* Clicking send / receive brings up the box for a second but then it disappears quickly - without attempting to send the items in theoutbox.
* SMTP info has not changed (ISP, was blueyonder SMTP) but I have tried using a different SMTP address I know is valid (tried the virgin one and a personal one).

Any ideas about how to resolve this?

Thanks

To which ISP is the computer connected.
Which ISP's SMTP server is the mail trying to be sent via?

The ISP is Virgin Media (who bought Blueyonder).

The SMTP is smtp.blueyonder.co.uk. I have tried switching this to the virgin one and a personal SMTP with no joy.

Confusing thing is that it doesn't give an error about not being able to connect to SMTP.....it just doesn't send.

Not sure if this helps or not but in OE the max size for the sent items folder is 1GB. If the folder reaches this size it will not send any further mails. Check the size of the folder in case this happens in Windows Mail also.

I take it that you are using the correct ports? Have they perhaps been blocked by routers/firewall ?

I can check, but the modem hasn't been touched in since it was set up a year ago.

That gives me an idea though, best to check windows firewall but that should be clued up anyway!
