Minor annoyance, I know but is there any way to stop the Outlook Data File showing up in the folders pane every single time I open Outlook up?. Using Office 2010, image below of the annoying offender!! :-

Can you just right click and delete or similar on 'outlook data file'. It doesnt and has never showed up on mine.

Do you use it as the Inbox is empty? Is it set to be the default account? Make another datafile the default and delete it

I think the way to go would be: File > Accounts & Settings > Accounts & Settings > Data files. Then find the unused (probably the default one) there, and remove it.

The default account is the one underneath it in the screenshot. Is it ok to delete it?. What does it actually do anyway?.

That's just the PST file that Outlook will download email into by default. If the one you want to get rid of isn't the default, you can just go ahead and remove it (it won't actually delete the PST, it'll just remove it from the list, so even if you do remove the wrong one, nothing will be lost).

Cheers, thats done the trick. Deleted the actual .PST from the "Outlook Files" folder and then Right clicked on the entry in the accounts pane and selected "Remove Outlook Data File".

Now it's gone. Brilliant stuff folks, many thanks.
