Outside Lights - Hue Lights Vs Lights with Hue Bulbs

I use a Shelly Mini module in the back box of the light switch. https://shellystore.co.uk/product/shelly-1pm-mini-gen3/

Normal light switches, normal light fittings, normal bulbs. Maximum flexibility, minimum price.

They are an absolute doddle to set up and integrate into home assistant. The normal light switch works as well as the ‘smart’ control.

I’m sure there are Zigbee alternatives which are similar.

I get why you might want smart bulbs if you want colour changing but for anything else, light switch modules are the way forward.

Yeah I think those control modules are the way to go aren't they.

This particular switch is part of a 4 bank so I think I'll do cheap bulbs until I get all the work finished (6 weeks behind schedule, still don't have floors. We've been washing up in the bath since June), and after that I can look at a better solution in the control modules.

Knowing that they exist does open up scope for doing the rest of the house, which I've not had any particular desire to do until you've shown me these.
