Ouya: anyone else pre-ordered

Have my Retail Ouya and have been using it for the past 3 days a lot. I've crammed it full of emulators and games - I've got to say I'm loving it so far. So many cool Indie games already - Bomb Squad, Towerfall, Bards Tale, Knightmare Tower, Vector, Deep Dungeons Of Doom, Natural Soccer, Ice Rage plus a shed load of others.

I have tested sideloading a file manager and used dropbox to to transfer files to which works well.

A couple of things I would like to see updated - the storage - we need to be able to install apps to harddrive/usb stick as 8gb is too limiting.

The store needs a downloads queue so you can view things you've selected to download and if they have finished.

The store also needs a list of your purchased games so you can easily remember what you have paid for.

For £99 its a great piece of kit and I'm having fun with it.

Got mine yesterday from where i work. N64, Ps1, MD and Snes emu's work a treat and the games currently available to play are also quite good. Hoping for Modern Combat 4 and a decent racer like real racing to be available.

Main reason for purchase is i love old games and this is just perfect for that kind of thing and my little boy will enjoy playing them also. Don't know what else in going to do with it but as it is for £99 in happy and so is my little one.

Havnt seen Onlive in it, would be quite cool if it is though.

Would really like sonic fan remix to be available on ouya. Such a good remake!

So finally got mine at the tail end of last week. Had to pay import customs on the thing but still worked out a saving of £5-6 on the £99 retail price over here!

So many times I considered canceling the pre-order (and probably would have done if the makers didn't make it so unclear how/where to go about doing this).

However, after playing the thing with family over the weekend I can honestly say that I'm so glad that I didn't! For all the bad press the thing has received, there's no denying that it's a FUN device. Takes me back to the era of 8 bit where local multiplayer was the only option.

Yeah the menus are a mess and the quality of the games are all over the place, but there are some real gems on the device too.

Had some real laughs with 'Hidden in Plain Sight' and of course there is 'Towerfall' which is receiving praise from all directions.

Now the main basis of arguments against this thing is that all it offers can be accessed elsewhere. While that is maybe true, for me playing on an android phone/device would remove the chance for the fun local multiplayer that I feel is he main attraction. I'd also never have consider playing such bite-sized games on pc or ps3 so for me it's a warranted purchase.

I'm intrigued by the Ouya, but i don't know if i can justify the price.
Is it likely to come down in price do you think or should i bite the bullet and get one?
What's the community like, is much modding going on?

do yourself a favour and buy a nexus 7, at least that way you can take it with you wherever you go

I have to say I really REALLY do not understand the appeal to Ouya. Why would you get this over say an Andriod device or a iOS device ? which from what I make out all Ouya does is play Andriod games on a TV with a control pad instead of touch screen.

Fair to say that i can see the nexus being a more practical investment due to the multiple functions. However I can also say that the nexus could not have provided the side splitting, laughter inducing couch banter that ensued from play sessions over the weekend..

You take your pick...

I saw this in the shop for the first time today... It didn't really appeal to me while it was a kick starter project but I am interested.

As a retro gamer, do should I get one? Or should I drag out that HP i5 laptop and pair one of my ps3 controllers to it?

Is anyone here using the ps1 emu on ouya? Just curious as to why some games don't have music playing.

I play die hard trilogy on it but its not the same without its music.

For emulation - the only reason I'd want to game on an android device - these things are a pretty big deal. Gaming on touch screen is nasty with traditional gaming.

Can't really discuss here, but head over to ouyaforum. All ROMs aren't created equal...

Really enjoying my Ouya. Unlike many haters, I really wouldn't want to play games on a tablet, the Ouya sits under the telly ready and waiting. I don't have a 360/PS3 and no intentions of buying a XBone/PS4. Having ePSXe, Muppen64 and MD.emu in one box, couple with Netflix and streaming from NAS, could not be happier. That it has some cracking games of it's own is just a bonus
