Ouya: anyone else pre-ordered

Still waiting for my Ouya, email or anything!!!

Did you have to pay import duty Windle?

Have mine on pre-order (missed the Kickstarter campaign) and also waiting to hear anything in relation to when I can expect delivery.

Thinking it may have been quicker if I'd have waited to purchase at retail :-(

TBH I already looked into cancelling the pre-order but I get the feeling it's purposely made difficult to prevent the many people in my position (website contains no details on how to go about this)...

Yeah, got hit for import duty (£16).

So far I think it's quite good, but there aren't a huge amount of games available on the Ouya market place. It's sweet for emulators though.

Mine arrived today, after DHL tried and failed twice to deliver it... turns out the driver decided to ignore the postcode and the town name on the parcel and try and deliver it to street with the same name, in a different town 5miles away. Anyway, got it now and also hit with £16 import duty, but it seems quite decent so far, installed half a dozen games and most seem fine, Little Crane being simple but addictive. I did try a Pinball game which was pretty poor, nice enough graphics and sound but quite a big delay on the flippers, which kind of spoils the whole game.

Mine is also a pre-order and now wish I had waited to buy at retail, never paid import duty before, do you just pay the delivery guy in cash?

You can pay cash, or pay on a card online DHL epayments simply enter your waybill and press search and it will give you an invoice and then keep the receipt to show the delivery driver.

The emus are pretty decent, can download zipped roms straight to the Ouya and play them. There's even a NDS emu which works quite well with the pad touch box

If you wait a decade there may be something awesome out that blows the next Xbox and PS4 away ;)
.

Don't be so cocky! In less then 5 years mobile phone games when from 16-bit equivalents to better then PS2/XBOX graphics. In some cases not a million miles from the current gen!

I was more referring to the console life cycle tbh ;)

Still no sign of my Ouya, which is probably a godsend, as I have no TV setup yet. Still painting and decorating new pad

I pre-ordered the Retail version from Game for £99 - if all goes well it should launch on 25th June so fingers crossed. Really looking forward to this system. For the money to have a mini android computer/console that runs a load of indie games, emulators, media players and apps on the TV is a bargain. A bonus for me is as I have my own caravan its ideal (due to its simplicity and small form factor) to take away on weekend breaks for some entertainment. Game I'm most looking forward too so far are - Legend of Dungeon (love it on PC so will be an instabuy), Fist of Awesome, 3d White Water, Sky Arena, Bomb Squad and Natural Soccer. Of course all the emulators will all be tested if PSX and N64 work then that would be great. I will be testing side loading some of the old school emulators for 2600, Amiga, Megadrive, Vectrex and Spectrum.

Overclocking it to 2Ghz also seems possible as people have managed to do this on the enclosed Nexus 7 tablet which has a Tegra 3 chip.

Released today apparently - anyone get hold of one???

I'm still waiting on my pre-order which was promised to be in my hands before the thing hit retail :-(

A few idiots felt the need to review the console with 1 star reviews on Amazon uk

This one is most telling

used for 1 hour , its rubbiish , mum now uses it as a paper weight!, do not buy, 100 bpounds for fan in a box :(

So this virginal basement dweller claims his mummy is now using it for a paperweight :p TBH A console that lacks tards like these is a good thing IMO. The KS backer treatment has been pretty poor, but that's KS for you. You don't buy products from KS, it's to support ideas you like. Any items you receive are perks. Do people not think for themselves?

What does it do for this money? Its $99 in the US which means it should be about £60 here. And even then, what do you need a £60 console for, that doesn't even give you every thing available on Android, only selected software!?

I won't be wasting my money.

Cool story, bro

Too expensive for what it is. Get a mini android pc instead which does everything this does for a third of the price

A £33 Android mini pc that has a nice case, BT controller, native XBMC support amongst other features? Where can I buy?!

I'm going to start a Kick Starter for a remote electrocution device, so I can fry people over the internet. Any backers?

Don't be bitter because you own one.

Fact is, they are pointless. Maybe good for somebody who doesn't own an Android/IOS phone. But even then the Android titles worth playing aren't actually even available yet!

Fact is, you can buy a pre owned 360 or PS3 for cheaper than a new OUYA. Got to have more money than sense or simply be a console collector to even be partly interested in one of these.

I agree, it seems like it would be something that sat on a shelf and became a conversation starter. A lot of reviewers for various gaming sites have been saying it feels likr it's made from very cheap material.

Either way, it's not for me - I have a decent android phone and run xbmc to the main telly from a pc and I just don't trust that this tiny thing can do a comparable job streaming media around the house.

Buy what you like and whatever does the job you want of it NOW and let the future happen.

Theres a huge difference between yearly hardware upgrades and 10 year hardware upgrades.

People always complain about the annual releases of FIFA and COD and not to mention iPhones and iPads :P
