Oven gloves

But I don't get how food would get IN the oven glove unless your hand was covered in food when you put them in the oven glove?

That bit is easy.... upon use ie. removing hot food from an oven say lasagne it tends to boil over the edge, this then as mentioned isnt washed hence next time you pick it up bingo and so on.

I cook an awful lot... But if my hands were covered in food then I would wash them before I put my oven gloves on!

Anyway, I'm bowing out here because I clearly don't get what you lot mean and you clearly don't get what I mean!

No need to bow out Vic as you do what plenty (blokes esp.) of others don't ... you wash your glove / gloves :)

If you have a busy kitchen then stopping to wash your hands isn't always an option (assuming no bacterial issues etc). Whereas if you are methodical and only cook bits and bobs, then sure it's easy to keep your towels/gloves clean at all times (even if it is a bit anal).

Just depends how you personally do things.

I would say that in a busy kitchen there would be a real need to be washing your hands regularly. If my hands get dirty doing a particular job in the kitchen then as soon as that job is finished I wash them before moving onto the next thing. Basic food hygiene really.
