Hi all

I want to get an oven safe frying pan. Most of the ones I have seen say they are safe to 180 degrees. Is it worth getting one that is safe at a higher temperature and, if so, what do you suggest? Non-stick would be nice but not essential.

Thanks

I have a stellar 6000 square roaster with lid. For the oven rated to 240c. It's a bit odd as both Meyer professional and stellar 6000 have both 180 and 240 in the same range.

It's a great pan for frying, roasting, stews it is massive so check it fits in your oven. My new rented house it doesn't fit as it's a tiny silly gas oven which probably cost them £50 new.

Never used them though

Also have these but they fit in even less ovens due to handle size

That Raymond Blanc pan looks ideal. Bit pricey but probably worth it. Unless anyone else comes up with something good for less looks like a future purchase. Cheers AcidHell

The Reymound ones aren't dishwasher proof. Also you should use none metal utensils either wood or plastic but make sure they are rated to at least 200c.

Also no lids with them, description is a bit misleading.

Actually, they are.

Nope, from Meyers website.

To maximise its non-stick properties, use wooden or plastic utensils.

Hand washing in hot soapy water is all that’s required to clean Anolon Professional.

Never place in a dishwasher as conventional dishwasher detergents will cause permanent damage.

A hard anodized exterior cleaner is available to help you care for your cookware.

And yet the Raymond Blanc by Anolon website confirms what is written on the boxes.

Furthermore, the leaflet that comes with the pans clarifies the situation:

Your cookware is safe for use in a dishwasher. However, as with all fine cookware, hand washing is recommended. In time the cumulative effects of strong agitation and harsh detergent will affect the appearance of your pans, although the performance will not be affected.

How odd, I wouldn't dishwash them. I've wrecked one large skillet in the past. I swear mine said that it wasn't dishwasher safe. Unless they have updated it again.

Some of the old Anolon Professional Hard Anodised pans weren't suitable for use in the dishwasher, but all of the Raymond Blanc range are. Which is odd, but welcome all the same.

Seems too be two ranges ones dishwasher safe but only 180c the other isn't dishwasher but 240c.
There's definitely only one range of Raymond Blanc Professional Hard Anodised cookware - what website are you getting your information from?

Meyers. They are both called anolon professional. I think some websites are getting mixed up. But the pans look identical.

180c = dishwasher safe
280c = non dishwasher safe

So which is the one I posted it can't be reymound and 240c. It's one or the other.
But then I'm sure mine are reymound ones and also said do not dishwash on the box. But mine must be two years old now, maybe more.

Right
Slightly curved handle = Meyer reymound blanc anolon professional range = 180c dishwasher safeish
Straight handle = Meyer anolon professional = 240c not dishwasher safe.

God how many websites have that all mixed up.

So it appears the ones I have are reymound ones due to handle. Thank god for my stellar.

Yep I have the straight handle ones they are oven safe to 240 but not dishwashable. I would never even stick the Raymond ones near a dishwasher. Why bother anyway, they take a quick rinse to clean and wouldn't take up space in the dishwasher.

I have had all 3 of the skillets for many years now and they are as good as new. For the oven it has to be professional range :)

What sort of liquid capacity does the Stellar 6000 have? - looks handy!

What's the diameter of your oven and what size do you want the pan to be/what will it be used for?

If you can find a seller in the UK, I've heard a lot of good stuff about stainless steel, triple ply cookware by a company called Tramontina. Apparently they are very close to holding their own against All-Clad pans which are the box deluxe (a fact I can personally attest to) but they're much cheaper.

Don't judge a book (or pan) by where it's sold but Walmart has an 8-piece set for $149. For the equivalent All-Clad you'd be looking at about $500.
