Oven Trick

It was the same with me, unfortunately it's like dollar signs in your eyes, ie don't have to buy a new one however this sharply disappears when it stops working after a few days.

thats why i was wondering if anyone had had long term success, we are 3 days in and after letting benchmarks run and gaming in the evening on it all seems stable, its used daily so i will update in a week either way.

I have done it with a graphics card years ago, i got it working for an extra 12 months.

Problem is it stinks your gaff out doing it.

But if it works for awhile then happy dayz. ;)

Did this with an LG G3 with a boot loop issue.

Make sure you remove the battery though!!!

Turned it to max let it warm up and left it in for 5 mins. It worked and still works to this day. Magic I say.

Did this on a 8800GTX back in the day, it was given to me from a friend who had it for a month, started failing with artefacts and he refused to send it back.
Threw it in the oven after stripping it all down, 10 mins @ 200C, left it to cool for 3 hours put it back together and boom work like a treat.

My friend didn't realise you could do that, he doesn't offer me hardware anymore :(

I put some chips in the oven at 220 for 15 minutes and they were just right. 14 minutes and they're not quite crisp enough. Anything over 16 minutes and they're a little burned.

My gfx card died recently, maybe I should strip the cooler and give it a quick bake; worth a punt, it's dead otherwise.

Back when I was an Electronics Test Engineer I used to take my gubbed boards into work and run them through an actual Reflow Oven, always did the trick. Can't see why a household oven wouldn't be just as successful. Need to be careful with some of the plastic components, especially on edge connectors. These are usually inserted after reflow soldering during the manufacturing process to prevent them from melting/burning.

Nice. I'll try this on my G4 which has a boot loop problem...

The phone would cycle the boot screen and then go blue and crash on that until you removed the battery. A lot of people mentioned to strip the PCB away from the case. This was only 6 screws, then pop it in the oven. It worked 100% I was going to buy some boot loop LG phones of eBay and make a killing :D

I'm not responsible for any damages lol.
