I've come up with this spec over the past few weeks, and the parts will be ordered in the next few days. I'm not in a position now to change any of the major components, i'm just wondering what i should do about the custom wc loop (whether it's all good or if i should change it). The reason i'm using two 120 rads is because i know they will definitely fit in the case. I have, though, seen pictures of i think a 240 rad mounted in the top, but doing that would mean i have to take the huge fan out which i would prefer to leave in place. What are your thoughts? Also, i'm new to this, do i need a fan to mount on each of the radiators? if so what can you recommend? Thanks guys!

Change the case out for a white NZXT switch (looks pretty much the same) and add some more radiators, a single 120 is barely enough for just the 3930K, let alone when you throw the 690 into the loop at a later date :)

It's for a friend and he doesnt want to change the case :p which radiators would you recommend then? (i think a top 360 is possible) and what about fans?

Not a great case for watercooling by the look of it, not a great deal of room in the top of it for anything, maybe a slim 200 rad at a push?

I'd have to do some more looking up on the case, but even the brand name suggests its aimed at air cooling ;)

IMO tell him to either change the case or drop the WC...

ok i've persuaded him to change to this case :) So i think now a thick 360 should be good?

What case has he decided on? The switch 810? If so I think the switch can take a thick 480 in the roof? That should give enough headroom to handle the 3930K and eventually the 690. Could even loose the bottom HDD cage and slip a 240 in the loop as well.

If he wants the higher end WC cases he should be looking at something along the lines of a TJ07/TJ11.

I learned the hard way, don't cheap out on a case when you want to WC.

As mentioned above, an external radiator is also an option, but requires more room, more hanging out the back of the case etc..

Edit: What ever he decides on remember to ask about what fits in it and do some googling.

yeah the 810 as you suggested.

will a thick 360 or maybe 420 not be enough? we don;'t want to spend tooooo much on the loop

If it were my build, i probably would consider an external rad, but it will be much easier to keep it all internal in this case

I'm not 100% on what the switch 810 can take, but if the 690 is going to go in the loop when blocks are released I would say you want at least a thick 360/420 + thick 120.
