hi guys

I am a noob when it comes to over-clocking i have never done anything of the sort so i'm behind the times i've googled it and got the general idea but everything i try computer always crashes

How do you do it?

I have a Gigabyte GA-EG41MF-US2H Rev1.0
Q9400 Intel (2.66ghz)
4Gb DD2 800 Ram

I've tried easytune6 but i want to do it via bios, i have core temp and currently at stock i run at 38oC under load so with the heat i could push my cpu i want to get it upto 4Ghz so it will keep preforming, but i just mainly want to learn

What roughly do i need to do in bios to get say 3Ghz
I no FSB needs to be 370mhz but what about everything else anything over 340 and crash

Thanks if you can help

Not all CPU's can just do 4GHz and to do so there need to be a whole host of things working together.

Your cooler is the most important.
Then your voltage. These two are linked.
PSU will play a big part too with a quad. Quality of current supplied.
Motherboard options to overclock. Your board should be fine.
and finally
CPU - not all CPU's are equal as I said. Some will clock to 4 GHz and others again will struggle to get even close.

I suggest you read the guide found sticky-ed in the overclocking sub forum and start with those basic steps.

Good luck.
