Ok i'm still chugging along on my Athlon 4800+ (2.4GHz), but i will probably be upgrading in full next year sometime... In the meantime though i thought i may aswell try and squeeze a bit more out of it, so tried my first little overclock.

I currently have it running at 2640MHz with 4xHT, 240 bus and 11x multi, i dropped the ram down to 166, but with the bus increase it's back up to 188MHz and the HT is at 960MHz.... I didn't overclock the ram because it's only standard Crucial ram and i wasn't sure if i'd fry it. I ran prime95 for 6 hours and it passed and the temps are 35c idle and it didn't pass 65c running prime (freezer 64 heatsink)

Now my questions...
Does it look like i've done things correctly ? lol
Does anyone know whats the highest safe clock and temps i could get with this cpu ?
Am i correct in not overclocking the standard ram? or could i squeeze a bit more out them without killing them ?

Thanks for your help :)

Thanks for such an informative and helpful reply, i really see things clearly now
