Hi,

Just overclocked my q6600 to 3.096ghz, using 344*9, and a vcore of 1.3375V.

I used a 1:1 fsb:dram ratio, and my ram is set to read timings from SPD, and i just wanted to check they look correct or if i should enter them manually.

Ram is: OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC

CPUZ says:
DRAM Frequency: 344Mhz
CAS# Latency: 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay: 5 clocks
RAS# Precharge: 5 clocks
Cycle Time: 15 clocks
Command Rate: 2T

DDR voltage is at 2.0volts

Also whats the maximum safe temp i can run the q6600 at without risking any damage? Is 50-60 degrees at max load safe enough?

Anything up to 75c is safe.

When i am overclocking i set the divider so my ram runs way below rated speeds and slacken off the timings, so i know if i get a bluescreen or anything goes wrong its the cpu thats to blame. After i have finished with the cpu i then see how far i can take the ram.

mine runs at 30'c idle
roughly 60'c max load after 3 hours prime

you should be fine with those results
you probably have a bit of headroom there tbh
what cooler are you using?

Its a tuniqe tower with a silent fan on, dont think its a very high rpm.

Just done 2.5 hours of prime and its about 53 degrees, so not too bad really.

Is it worth pushing it any further? Not sure if it would give me a noticable difference or not  Im happy its got to 3ghz anyway :)

The C2Q are said to have a "sweet spot" of around 3.2GHz (for gaming anyway), so if you're only at 53C after all that priming, why not. :)

Short answer: yes

well i know mine could go further
i really need to sit down and spend some time with it

i literally installed the chip
put it at 3ghz
and let it sit there
easy

i say go for it
