GTX470 overclocked edition

all has been running @stock since I bought about 5years ago. I think its time to overclock the cpu and probably the ram aswell. its my first time overclocking, can anyone remember what the average overclock was sitting at for the 950 back then?

im also thinking of a 780 around the £400 range. which is best?

cheers for info

id rather have the better cooling and slightly faster factory speed than the headset, but thanks for the info.

the Vapor-X would fit in the nzxt phantom case yea?

Don't get me wrong I have that Vapor-X myself, it truly is a magnificent looking card, cooler, performer and I notice no difference between it and the R9 290X Tri-X in games.

You wont be disappointed in it. If your GTX470 was a reference model then you just wait until you hear the silence:D

it was the Gigabyte SOC Edition it had aftermarket cooler. sound has never really bothered me either.

what do you think I could manage overclock wise with the i7 950 on air? I have the Titan Fenrir Evo heat sink.

Oh, good heatsink, I use to have one and it got good reviews too, I have never had a X58 platform so have no idea on what you can expect but there will be a million+1 overclock guides on the web for you to look at.

this is a monster cooler. i have never seen that set up before.

stulid, or anyone reading this now, can you suggest the best drivers for the R9 290.

sometimes the latest version isn't the best and its the first time iv had a radeon card so im not sure :)

thanks!

I need a new monitor to go with the new card. my current 1080p monitor is only hitting 60hz. am I right in saying its killing the card?

is ther any bang for buck monitors that can show in detail all the 290 has to offer? what resolution should I go for?

It is a monitor purly for gaming.

around the £200 mark would be ideal.

all recommendations welcome :)
